Study of 50,000 Female Online Daters Reveals the Demi Moore Effect

Posted on April 30, 2007

Demi_moorePR NEWSWIRE — Apr 30 — A study of over 50,000 women daters aged thirty and over on PlentyofFish.com from April 19th-25th, 2007 reveals that 35% contacted men 5 or more years younger than themselves. Markus Frind, Founder and CEO of PlentyofFish says, "It's not just men who want to date a few years younger these days. Women in their thirties, forties and older are pursuing younger men on dating sites." In the USA, of the 23,024 women who initiated contact with men, 38% sought out men at least 5 years younger, and 10% messaged men at least 10 years younger. In Canada, of 17,684 women, 31% emailed men at least 5 years younger. In the UK 41% contacted men at least 5 years younger. Mr. Frind says, "Demi and Ashton were the exception a few years ago, but by proving it works, more women than ever are comfortable looking to younger men for love." Founded by Markus Frind in 2003, PlentyofFish has grown to be the #1 dating site in Canada and the 5th most popular in both the USA and UK.

What, you Think we Won’t Notice?

Posted on April 13, 2007

MIAMI HERALD — Apr 13 — When I found myself back in the dating game, the online choices were overwhelming. Which service should I use? Friends had different opinions, debating the finer points of Match.com vs. eHarmony. No, try AmericanSingles, one would say. Or PlentyofFish, it's free. What about Yahoo personals or MySpace? Nearly every woman 25-to-33 was searching for someone with 22 qualities that must be met. I realized how deceptive profiles can be. Why do we try and be something we are not when trying to attract potential dates? There's no hiding when you finally meet in person.

Hitwise Rankings Changes fo the USA

Posted on April 6, 2007

Hitwise_logoOPW — The Hitwise rankings are in for March. PlentyofFish moved ahead of eHarmony to take 5th position.  Adam4Adam moved one position ahead of Mate1 to take 8th position. HotorNot moved up two positions to #11, probably due to them transitioning to a  free membership model. OnlineBootyCall enters the charts at #15.

The Plan of Action

Posted on April 3, 2007

Logo_plentyoffishTHE PARADIGM SHIFT — Mar 16 — This weekend I’m taking my girlfriend and 4 of her really hot girlfriends for a week long trip to a 5 star all inclusive resort in Cancun. People in Mexico are similar to those who go online and date because they all behave like no one is watching, and nothing matters. Most of my next week will be spent trying to figure out how I can best implement my idea. FULL ARTICLE @ THE PARADIGM SHIFT

Mark Brooks: Markus is back from holiday now. I’ll keep you posted as soon as he publicly reveals his new idea.

Oodle Report

Posted on March 28, 2007

OodlelogoPRESS RELEASE — Mar 28 — A look at more than 1.4 million singles on Oodle.com showed that 60% of singles do not reveal whether they have or want children and 55% do not specify if they smoke.  For fear that they will appear less desirable! However, data from a recent survey on Engage.com proves this theory wrong. In fact, 88% of those surveyed said they were open to the idea of dating people with children and 63% would consider dating smokers. Mom was right…"honesty is the best policy." Oodle also found Chicago, Boston, and Miami are the best bets for Catholic singles while Miami, New York and L.A. are best for finding Jewish mates. If you don't drink or smoke, the best place to find a mate is Salt Lake City. More than half the over 40 online dating population has been married before.

Mark Brooks: Oodle aggregates profiles from the likes of Engage.com, PlentyofFish and others. Sites can pay to have their profiles featured in order to get more click throughs. Lycos tried something similar a couple of years back but the program failed because it required sites to send a flat file, and pay on a cost per reg basis…and Lycos just didn't send enough leads to be that worthwhile in the end.
