eHarmony Study: Couples Who Met Online Have Happier Marriage
LA TIMES – June 3 – The study was led by John Cacioppo, a respected social psychologist at the University of Chicago's Center for Cognitive and Social Neuroscience and scientific advisor to eHarmony. Those who turn to the Internet to find a mate may be more committed to finding a long-term relationship than those who don't. People open to online dating may have other strengths, including certain cognitive skills such as empathy, persistence or impulse-control, that help foster happiness in committed relationships. Online daters may also be hunting for a mate from a larger and more diverse pool of prospects, he said. As a result, they may be more likely to find a compatible long-term match. Finally, online dating sites may give potentially compatible partners more opportunities to reveal themselves to one another before meeting face-to-face.

Dating Sites Aren’t Liable For Their Users’ Actions
FORBES – June 3 – Mary Kay Beckman suffered an online dating nightmare. She met Wade Mitchell Ridley on Match.com. Three months later, Ridley “ambushed” her at her home, repeatedly stabbing and kicking her. Later, she learn that Ridley was suspected of previously murdering an ex-girlfriend. She sued Match.com. Last week, Beckman’s lawsuit was dismissed. Beckman argued that she wasn’t suing Match.com for Ridley’s posts. Instead, she said she was suing Match.com for failing to protect her from Ridley. Incidents like this are not good publicity for Match.com. So even though the law says the sites aren’t liable for their users’ actions, most branded websites typically care enough about their reputation that they will voluntarily undertake measures designed to protect their members.

Job Site Wants Only Beautiful Candidates
MASHABLE – June 3 – BeautifulPeople.com, the controversial dating site that allows only attractive people to join, is expanding its service for employers. It is readying a recruitment feature for employers wanting to hire "good-looking staff." Employers will have a dedicated business profile and be able to pursue other members who are looking for a job. Members will also be able to look through job listings and apply directly to companies. Although this sounds vain and even discriminatory, it's no secret that certain companies want to hire attractive candidates to represent the brand.

Anonymous Calling For The Internet Dating Industry – What Exactly Is Going On?
OPW – May 28 – Anonymous calling and chat service provider offerings in the internet dating space have been a bit of mystery. PrivateCall by Phone Matrix made a strong case for anonymous calling but then faded. Jangl got off to a strong start, and then got folded into JaJah. JaJah successfully partnered with eHarmony, FriendFinder and Match. Then Match partnered instead with Twilio. ICallU is now on the scene and working with Seeking Arrangement and SugarDaddyForMe.
Dating sites' needs appear to have remained the same – their users want to communicate with one another without immediately divulging their personal information. What are telephony providers doing wrong? Could it be that the increasingly prevalence of messaging apps like WhatsApp and TextNow, combined with online daters' collective comfort with contemporary lines of communication, is diminishing the need for text- and voice-based telephony services? Let's discuss. Please comment if you have knowledge and an opinion.
(btw, Spikko are our new client, and have a solid offering on a proven platform for anonymous/private calling).
