OPW – FRNDS of FRNDS, a college-focused dating app that matches users through mutual friends in their contacts rather than strangers, has been acquired by dating industry entrepreneur Steven Macecevic (founder of Datefit); terms of the deal were not disclosed. The app launched just 9 months ago, and has already grown to ~100K users with a network of ~17M contacts. Under Macecevic’s leadership, the company will push for rapid growth by increasing targeted marketing across major U.S. college campuses.

DUA AG Acquires Gen Z Dating App IRLY

VANCOUVER TECH JOURNAL – Switzerland-based DUA AG has acquired the IRLY (I Really Like You) brand, including its trademark and IP, in an all-cash asset deal. Founded in Vancouver by Connor Rose, Laura Rollock, and Cameron Dallas, IRLY positioned itself as a Gen Z, personality-first alternative to swipe-based dating apps. The acquisition adds IRLY to DUA AG’s growing portfolio, which includes Albanian dating app dua.com (2019) and hyper-local platform Spotted.de (acquired 2022), as the group expands its niche, youth-focused dating brands.

Info Edge Fully Acquires Aisle for ₹5.5 Crore ($620K)

SCANX – Info Edge’s subsidiary Jeevansathi Internet Services has bought the remaining 3.65% stake in Aisle Network Pvt. Ltd. for ₹5.5 crore ($620K), making Aisle a wholly-owned subsidiary. The deal includes 1,279 equity shares and ends prior seller arrangements. Aisle runs Indian dating apps Aisle, Anbe, Arike, Neetho, and Jalebi. Financially, it reported a turnover of ₹39.62 crore ($4.5M), loss of ₹17.8 crore ($2M), and net worth of ₹20.86 crore ($2.4M).

HelloGroup Acquires French Dating App happn to Drive Global Expansion

PRESS RELEASE – French dating app happn has been fully acquired by HelloGroup, a major Asian social and dating app operator, under a deal signed on Sep 2, 2025. The acquisition aims to strengthen happn’s position in existing markets (Europe, Latin America, India, Turkey) and drive expansion into Asia and Africa. Founded in 2014, happn has ~170M users worldwide and tripled its profits between 2022 and 2025 under President Karima Ben Abdelmalek’s “Smart Dating” strategy. HelloGroup, which operates apps like Momo and TanTan, sees the acquisition as a way to combine expertise and accelerate international growth.

Chapter 2 Dating Acquires M14 White Label Dating Platform

MANCHESTER WORLD – Chapter 2 Dating Ltd, founded by Nicky Wake, has acquired the M14 white-label dating and social app platform, which powers its apps Soberlove, Chapter 2 Dating, and Widows Fire. M14 was created by John Kershaw in 2017 and acquired by Steve Pammenter in 2022. Following the sale, Pammenter will focus on growing Gaydar and developing Highlife Media.

Dating App HER Acquired by Match Group

Match Group Her logosBLOOMBERG – HER, the world’s largest dating app for sapphic, queer, and LGBTQIA+ women and nonbinary people, has joined Match Group. Founded in 2013 as Dattch, HER now serves ~13M users globally. The partnership aims to strengthen HER’s infrastructure, improve safety and trust systems, and accelerate global growth, while preserving the app’s mission. HER’s team and vision remain unchanged, and the platform will continue focusing on inclusive experiences for lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, nonbinary, and other underrepresented communities.

The deal brings BeeDee to the Apple App Store for the first time. Meet Kinksters launched in 2022 and gained attention for its bold branding. BeeDee, co-founded by the creator of BDSMtest.org, launched in 2023 and has grown rapidly. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Match Group Quietly Acquired Salams, Backlash Grows

TURKIYE TODAY – Match Group quietly acquired Muslim matchmaking app Salams in late 2023, with the deal only revealed in a February 2025 earnings report. The move sparked backlash from users who said they were not informed. Criticism intensified after Match appointed Spencer Rascoff as CEO – the same day the acquisition was disclosed. Rascoff’s past board role at surveillance firm Palantir and public support for the Israeli military have raised concerns among Muslim users. Some communities are now boycotting Salams and urging users to switch to other platforms.

ProSiebenSat.1 Reclaims Full Control of ParshipMeet and NuCom in Deal Worth up to €98M

RETAIL NEWS – ProSiebenSat.1 is buying back full control of NuCom and ParshipMeet Group from investor General Atlantic in a deal that includes: €10M in cash, 5.9 M of its own shares (worth ~€38M) and a €50M payout due if ParshipMeet is sold later. The deal excludes beauty platform flaconi, where General Atlantic will keep a 28.4% stake, and ProSiebenSat.1 holds the rest. One condition for completing the deal is the sale of comparison site Verivox. This move gives ProSiebenSat.1 full control over its dating and e-commerce businesses and more flexibility for future sales or investments.
