Tinder screenshot bigINDEPENDENT – Dec 16 – Over 150K Irish people now use Tinder, according to researchers for Ipsos MRBI. The chances of them making a match are only one in a hundred. Those who use the app are more likely to be under 25. According to Tinder's own figures, user spends between an hour and 90 minutes using the app every day, logging in 11 times. That rivals Facebook or Twitter.

iDate Pre-Conference Sessions Review

Idate2015 logoOPW – Dec 16 – I'm speaking at iDate on Wed 21st, and also on Tuesday for the OPW 3 hour pre-conference session. During this session I'll be reviewing fresh data on the iDating industry. News, views, and industry direction. I've done this session many times over the years, but this will be the best one yet, with lots of new information. You can register here.

Also, I highly recommend Nir Eyal's session on creating habits. If you'd like to get an edge on your product design, you should try and get people hooked using some Nir's theory and practice. He wrote Hooked, and we're really privileged to have him speaking for 3 hours on the Tuesday afternoon, 20th January.

If you want to get true insight on the matchmaking industry, then take the matchmaking pre-conference half day on Tuesday. Carmelia Ray is joined by CNN's Dr Wendy Walsh and Paul Brunson. Then the IDCA (coaching.org) are running a half day coaching certification. 

And to get the inside track on the latest updates with Dating Factory white labeling platform, and meet the CEO Tanya Fathers, you should attend the Tuesday afternoon session.

…and then there's the buyers and sellers session at 5:30pm.  And this is all before the conference  officially starts Wed-Thu.

The fraudster is using the name “1078Yogi” as well as accurate details of her background and career. She’s suing to unmask the fraudster, demanding that Match.com hand over the person’s name, mailing address, phone number and computer IP address.

China Dating App Momo Goes Ahead With Nasdaq IPO

Momo nasdaqSCMP – Dec 11 – Allegations of misconduct against a former employee just 40 hours before his new venture Momo went public have created a media backlash against NetEase – China's fifth-largest internet firm by market value. Tang Yan, CEO of mobile dating app Momo, was accused of "acquiring information and technological resources" to establish his own firm in 2011, while still working as the editor-in-chief of NetEase's news portal 163.com the firm alleged on Wednesday. Momo's IPO went ahead as planned on Thursday on Nasdaq, raising $216M. The stock rose 26% during the trading day, ending at $17.02, giving Momo a market capitalisation of $3.17B.

On the flip side, women can search SecondWife.com profiles if they hope to become an extra wife. Yusuf Khan launched the UK-based polygamy site three months ago. The site already has ~3K users. The Koran permits men to marry up to four wives, as long as they can support them financially and treat them all equally. A 2008 report by NPR estimated that 50K to 100K American Muslims engage in the practice.
