The Tinder Dating Pool Isn’t Completely Shallow

Tinder wedding photoNYTIMES – Mar 26 – In a 2015 article in Vanity Fair, Nancy Jo Sales argued that Tinder is responsible for a "dating apocalypse," with several men admitting they use it to find women to sleep with. But Tinder is also landing spouses for its users. Many are proudly incorporating Tinder into their engagement or wedding ceremonies. In 2015, Eric Schleicher posted his wedding photo on Instagram with "Straight Outta Tinder" graphic stamped on the front. "We #SwipedRight!," Mr. Schleicher, captioned the photo. He's one of hundreds who have posted to the hashtag.

Brits Spent £5B For Dating In 2015

Jh_datingMETRO.CO.UK – Mar 27 – New research by the Centre for Economics and Business Research shows that Brits spent ~£5B looking for romance in 2015 – a whole £1B more than they did in 2014. And according to Match.com, the average cost for a date, between two people, is £127. A date in the Netherlands costs £49, while that figure is £40 in Germany.

Match Group Jan 16 from websiteFINANCIAL MARKET NEWS – Mar 27 – Morgan Stanley bought 127K shares of Match Group valued at ~$1,7M. Morgan Stanley owned 0.05% of Match Group at the end of the most recent reporting period. Other institutional investors have also recently added to or reduced their stakes in the company. TD Asset Management purchased new shares for $1.3M. First Trust Advisors LP bought a new stake valued at $2.4M. Emerald Mutual Fund Advisers Trust bought $3.2M worth of shares.

79% Of Bumble Is Owned By Badoo

Bumble ownershipTECH CRUNCH – Mar 25 – We all knew that Andrey Andreev, the founder of Badoo, is an investor in the female-led dating app Bumble. However, TechCrunch can now reveal that Andreev invested via Badoo Trading Ltd, the U.K.-registered operator of Badoo, and that the company owns 79% of Bumble. The app boasts 3.5M users since launching 15 months ago.

Students Build Bae, An App For Black Singles

Bae logoTECH CRUNCH – Mar 25 – Bae (Before Anyone Else) is a mobile dating app for Black people created by three students – Jordan Kunzika, Brian Gerrard and Justin Gerrard. They hosted an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) tour which consisted of parties and mixers where people who matched on Bae could meet in person. Within a few weeks of their April 2015 launch, they reached 17K downloads, and have grown over ten times since. Similar to other dating apps, Bae users swipe right for those they're interested in and left for those they're not. According to the founders what makes Bae different is their algorithm to offer better matches.

Users can opt out, but that means they might be excluded from view for other users who have chosen to connect only with verified users. If they choose to verify, Badoo will send them a request for a photo with the person performing a specific gesture.
