Doppler Dating App Wants Users To Get Offline And Meet

Posted on October 17, 2017

Doppler logoBRAVOTV – Oct 16 – Craig Cole was tired of swiping so he created Doppler Social App, to encourage people to have a face-to-face meeting. The goal of Doppler Social App is to get singles to actually meet offline through their shared interests. When users join the site, they use the interactive map to tick off places they enjoy attending, or where they'll be in the near future – concerts, bars, etc. They can see who else is interested in going. "By having a venue or event you're both already attending in play, it allows for a more organic conversation that can actually lead to a date", says Craig.

That's up from 39% a decade ago. The poll reported the biggest change among adults under 35. Now, 61% of this demographic is flying solo, up from 56% 10 years ago. The study did not address the possible role of Tinder and other online dating apps, in de-emphasizing the need for marriage to ensure companionship.

Over-50s Dating Site Tackles Deadly Loneliness

Posted on October 16, 2017

Stitch logoREUTERS – Oct 13 – Marcie Rogo didn't see herself as a matchmaker when she started Stitch, a dating site for people 50+, after watching residents in the nursing home where she worked sit alone in their rooms with iPads. Loneliness is a serious medical problem for many older adults; research links it to declines in physical and mental health as well as premature death. Stitch asks all its members to go through a verification process to ensure they are over 50. Stitch signed up 5k members in its first year and now has 100k members around the world, with the biggest hubs being London, New York and Sydney.

Ashley Madison Survey Reveals Why People Cheat

Posted on October 16, 2017

Ashleymadison new design tagline july 16INDEPENDENT.CO.UK – Oct 13 – Ashley Madison, an extramarital affairs dating site, asked its users why they cheat. 27% of men admitted that they would approach a friend or co-worker if they were unhappy in their current setup. Similarly, 15% of women admitted that a co-worker would be their go-to for an affair while 17% said they fantasise about having a fling with their boss. The truth is, if your partner is going to have an affair, it's likely to be with someone they already know. While satisfying sex was the main motivator, others confessed that their illicit behaviour was an attempt to be happier in the marriage, rather than to damage it.

First Evidence That Online Dating Is Changing The Nature Of Society

Posted on October 16, 2017

TECHNOLOGY REVIEW – Oct 10 – Dating sites have changed the way couples meet. Now evidence is emerging that this change is influencing interracial marriages and even the stability of marriage itself. Today, online dating is the second most common way for heterosexual couples to meet. For homosexual couples, it is the most popular. Shortly after the introduction of the first dating sites in 1995, like Match.com, the percentage of new marriages created by interracial couples increased rapidly. The increase became steeper in the 2000s, when online dating became even more popular. Then, in 2014, the proportion of interracial marriages jumped again after the creation of Tinder.

‘Tindstagramming’ Is A Gross New Dating Trend

Posted on October 14, 2017

Tinder with instagram logoJUNKEE.COM – Oct 12 – 'Tindstagramming' was coined by New York Mag to refer to the act of a person sliding into users' Instagram DMs if they didn't swipe to them on Tinder. It started becoming a thing in mid-2015 when Tinder allowed users to link Instagram to their profile. It's downright predatory. And people have a right to be freaked out. Tindstagramming doesn't happen simply because it's easy, or because the app's algorithm is subpar; it happens because a lot of guys still don't trust in a woman's ability to say no and mean it.

For Match Group Investors, A Look Beyond Tinder

Posted on October 12, 2017

Matchgroup logo simpleBARRONS – Oct 12 – Match Group shares rocketed higher on Wednesday, despite an analyst's view that the stock is now priced appropriately. Goldman Sachs analyst Christopher Merwin sees potential in new video features that are set to roll out soon. That said, he thinks that the company's investments could weigh on its profits going forward. Those video features may boost engagement on Match and other legacy dating sites, but they also could boost the company's server costs. Match shares were up 3.6% Wednesday. The stock has jumped ~50% since the start of the year.
