Dr. Timothy Sexton – DNA as Indicator of Romantic Chemistry

Posted on October 28, 2021

OPW – Dr. Timothy Sexton, CEO and Technical Founder of DNA Romance, believes that true romantic chemistry is found at the genetic level. Dr. Sexton has been analyzing the human genome for over 16 years and applied his expertise to the online dating experience. Romantic attraction is comprised of sexual chemistry, personality, physical attraction, and common interests. Online interactions can allow daters to evaluate personality, physical attraction, and common interests. Sexual chemistry cannot be determined through typical dating app experiences and only comes to light on the first date. According to Dr. Sexton, first date disappointment is attributed to a lack of sexual chemistry. This can lead to frustration and a poor user experience. DNA Romance developed the DRom 1.0 algorithm to synthesize genetic information into a simplified chemistry score. Dr. Timothy Sexton the application of DNA analysis to enhance the online dating experience in the latest video in the LTR Conference series.

LTR stands for Love, Technology, Relationships and the online conference covers the Internet dating and Online Social Communities space. It is for members of IDEA and OSCA.

The June LTR was kindly sponsored by RealMe, vPaaS by The Meet Group, Women in Dating & Courtland Brooks.

Hinge also plans to launch a new "Voice Notes" feature later this fall. Bumble and Happn both have voice note features. Additionally, a new app called String lets users only communicate through voice notes.

Former Tinder CEO Greg Blatt Valued Tinder at $12B in 2016

Posted on October 26, 2021

Tinder icon1DAILYMAIL.CO.UK – Former Tinder CEO Greg Blatt is accused of intentionally lowballing the dating app's value in order to cheat employees out of billions of dollars in stock options. In 2016, he estimated Tinder's worth at $12B, far more than the $3B value projected the following year, according to internal emails. A group of former employees, including founder Sean Rad, will be using those emails from 2016 in an upcoming trial to try to prove Blatt intentionally lowballed the value in 2017, denying banks information they needed to make an accurate assessment. In August of this year, a Morgan Stanley analyst report valued Tinder at $42B. The defense says the so-called 'recruiting deck' in January 2016 was based on hypothetical numbers and is not at all the same as a third-party valuation. While the chart did say that Tinder could grow if certain conditions were met, those conditions had not been met by 2017, they argue.

Network-Based Platforms Must Be Regulated. But How?

Posted on October 23, 2021

SwitchHARVARD BUSINESS REVIEW – Much of the dominance of today's tech firms, from Amazon to Google to Facebook, arises from network effects. These platforms facilitate connections: they connect people to products, to friends, to apps…More connections, more value to each person.

The question of how much competition tech giants face is now at the center of worldwide policy debate. Traditional antitrust policy is ill-equipped to regulate network-based platforms. Some platforms are offered free to users, charging in data or attention.

Antitrust authorities err on the side of not intervening; Google and Facebook have gone on a shopping spree to acquire early-stage competitors that could have become a threat if left independent. But the tide may be turning.

A better understanding of these networks can help societies fully reap the benefits of digital innovation, while mitigating emerging harms.

Mark Brooks: Scale and complexity will continue to increase. The job of overseeing the scale and complexity of platforms at the Governmental level is not easy. Mistakes will be made. It is essential companies, leaders, take the macro-perspective more seriously, right now, or potentially face overzealous oversteps from Government interventions. Leaders should provide more transparency and education to users and Government stakeholders alike.ons.
