How Filteroff Attracted a $2M Investment From Brewing Giant AB InBev

FilterOff logoBUSINESS INSIDER – AB InBev is known for beer brands such as Bud Light, Stella Artois, and Hoegaarden. ZX Ventures, the beverage giant's venture arm, made a $2M investment in Filteroff, a dating app that connects people through digital and in-person events. The companies collaborate on in-person dating events that AB InBev supplies with beer. Filteroff, launched in 2019, hosts virtual speed-dating events through its app, where attendees talk on video chat and have the option to set up a second date later. The app has also started organizing events where singles can meet face-to-face over a beer.

ICONY Is Acquiring DatingCafe.de

Icony DatingCafe logosOPW – Icony Ltd, a white-label dating provider for the German-speaking market, is acquiring its competitor DatingCafe.de. Dating Cafe's previous manager Marco Bollow will still support the team as a close consultant and Uwe Thomas, MD of ICONY, will take over the management. ICONY network operates ~230 dating platforms in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The survey also revealed that a third of singles think approaching people in real life is less common now. Inner Circle is hosting events in London, including cocktail masterclasses.

Which Dating Apps Collect and Share the Most Data From Their Users

Dating apps data sharing for postTECH BUZZ IRELAND – MoneyTransfers.com has analyzed 15 different dating apps to identify which apps share sensitive information with third parties. 67% of dating apps collect users' personal data to share with third parties. Badoo and Her were discovered to be the dating apps that share most of their users' personal data with third parties (35%), including everything from location, contact information, identifiers (IP address and cookies), and usage data. In joint second place were eharmony and Grindr, and in third place came Tinder and PlentyOfFish. There were 5 apps that did not collect any of their users' personal data to share with third parties. These apps were Hinge, Thursday, Flava, Once and Raya.

Iceland Dating App Keeps People From Dating Relatives

Íslendinga-AppMIRROR.CO.UK – Iceland has fewer than 400K people and little immigration over the years. To resolve the issue of Icelanders awkwardly finding out they are distant relations while dating, one company developed a practical mobile app called Íslendinga-App, also known as The Book of Icelanders that lists in great detail every Icelander since they first arrived on the island in the 9th century and the ways in which they could all be related. All users have to do is type in a name to see the results of how related one person is to another.

Match Group Ups Antitrust Pressure on Apple in India

Match GroupREUTERS – Match Group has filed an antitrust case against Apple with the competition regulator in India, accusing it of "monopolistic conduct" that forces developers to pay high commissions for in-app purchases. A similar dispute in the Netherlands resulted in a 50M euro fine for Apple and an agreement to allow different payment methods in Dutch dating apps. Apple says in India, 87% of apps on its App Store are those which don't pay any commissions at all.
