Fuse App Introduces Collaborative Matchmaking With Friends and Family

BIZWOMEN – Elodie Clowes and Amanda Karr have launched Fuse, a matchmaking app that integrates friends and family into the dating process. Unlike traditional dating apps, Fuse allows users' close ones to participate in selecting potential matches. After launching a beta version, Fuse is now officially available in Philadelphia and aims to expand to other cities. With $830K in pre-seed funding, led by Nathan McCauley, co-founder of Anchorage Digital, Fuse plans to raise a $3M seed round this fall.

TECH CRUNCH – Former Clubhouse employees Maya Watson and Lexi Nisita have launched why?!, a new social app combining messaging, networking, and dating features to address the "loneliness epidemic." The app, inspired by their professional experiences at Netflix and Clubhouse, aims to foster deep, trustworthy relationships through interactive elements like question card games and Facetime-like chats. Why?! recently secured $1.65M in pre-seed funding led by Precursor Ventures, with support from investors including Barclays Black Foundation and Clubhouse's CTO. Currently in private beta, the app plans to officially launch in the fall, with the team focused on expanding its engineering support as it grows.

Flutrr logoYOUR STORY – Flutrr, founded in 2021 by Kaushik and Anirban Banerjee, is a vernacular dating app helping young Indians in Tier II and Tier III cities connect in their regional languages. Flutrr has raised ~$780K (Rs 6.5 crore) from investors, including Indian actress Huma Qureshi, Times of India, and The Chennai Angels. The app operates on a pay-per-use model, offering premium features through micro-transactions. The startup, which has ~400K active users and is nearing 1M downloads, generates a monthly revenue of $24K – $25K,160 (Rs 20-21 lakh). It aims to reach 5-6M users and achieve profitability by the end of 2024. The Indian online dating market is expected to reach $69M in 2024.

The competitive analysis is weak, and some slides are poorly defined or titled. Despite these flaws, the solution slide is clear and well-articulated, highlighting the app's approach to solving dating app problems, but the overall presentation needs significant improvement.

With over 1600 applicants on the waitlist and adding 100 weekly, Maxion is launching a seed round to raise $1.2-$1.5M to support growth. Funds will secure market share in UAE, expand to two additional GCC markets, create an Indian connections portal, and localize for Muslim marriages. Founded by Christiana Maxion, the app focuses on compatibility and meaningful connections, offering a personal matchmaking concierge.
