92% Live Together Before Marriage
UKPA – Apr 25 – Nine in 10 British newlyweds have lived together before their wedding day, a new survey has suggested. The survey by eHarmony.co.uk polled 505 married adults of 25 years or more, and 530 married adults of one year or less. It found it was more common today for couples to separate at some point during their relationship, then get back together at a later stage and marry.

Founder Of Meetic Hooks Up With Glasses Startup
BUSINESS INSIDER – Mar 29 – Marc Simoncini, Founder and CEO of Meetic, the biggest dating site in Europe worth ~$500M on the Paris stock market, is investing $10+ million into Sensee.com and taking over as CEO. Sensee.com sells eyewear and has an ambitious goal to cut in half the average bill in the category. Simoncini has been looking for an exit from Meetic, a thriving success but by now a fairly mature business, which must be boring for the restless entrepreneur. He put the site up for sale last year but could not find a buyer at the price he sought. He also set up a venture capital firm, Jaina Capital, with 100M euros of his own money.

Online Dating Surges In Ireland
INDEPENDENT – Oct 17 - Online dating is becoming the norm for young singles in Ireland. Jill McGrath, managing director of Maybefriends.com, tells me how over the last year she has seen a tremendous growth in the 28–35 age group — and how it is now the largest age group on the site. "The site database has grown by 30% since January of this year, with the younger age group making up ~53% of this growth. While Ireland is not quite at US and UK levels yet, where it is almost mandatory for singles to be on a dating site, Jill believes we will be there within the next 18 months or so. There Aren’t Enough Gays In UK
TELEGRAPH.CO.UK – Sep 23 – Only 1% (240K) of the British population is gay according to a
report from the ONS. The gay ‘dating’ website Gaydar has 1.5M profiles
in the UK. Given that almost all its users are men, that means – if the
ONS figures are to be believed – that at ~1.25M heterosexual men in the
UK are registered on a site whose principal purpose is to hook men up
with each other for casual sex. Gaydar is entirely private and a bit
naughty, whereas the ONS figures come from a survey where people were
asked out of the blue to tell the government their sexuality. Whose
figures do you think are likely to be more accurate? FULL ARTICLE @ TELEGRAPH.CO.UK
