Pet Lovers Find Human Love Through Online Dating Service

Posted on February 17, 2006

AnimalattractioncomTHE CHICAGO TRIBUNE — Feb 16 — Cohen’s 2-year-old site, Animal Attraction is the dog park gone digital. There are 40 million single people in the country with pets, a pet economy in the U.S. that is much bigger than the toy or candy economy.

Mark Brooks: Robert Yau’s datemypet.com has had lots of press attention as well.  A novel and endearing service.

Online Dating Sites Help Single Pet Lovers Bark up the Right Tree

Posted on January 2, 2005

TWIN CITIES PIONEER PRESS — Jan 2 — Wendy Peikes was tired of dating guys who'd vanish when they'd met her housemates — three hairy, energetic dogs. So she took to her computer keyboard and joined DateMyPet where pet aversion is not tolerated. "There are 40 million single pet owners," said Dan Cohen, CEO of animalattraction.com. "This is a big business." Yahoo personals surveyed 5,000 users and found that 91% of them would use a pet as a conversation starter. More than three-quarters said a person's pet gives greater insight into the owner's personality.

Mark Brooks: Maraud your ever so cute puppy outside a Starbucks and see how many singles you meet in the time it takes to drink your venti latte! DateMyPet and AnimalAttraction are onto a good thing.

Love with a leash

Mercurynews.com — Wendy Peikes was tired of dating guys who'd vanish when they'd met her housemates — three hairy, energetic dogs. So she took to her computer keyboard and found an online dating site where pet aversion is not tolerated. This new breed of Internet dating is no Chihuahua. “There are 40 million single pet owners,'' said Dan Cohen, CEO of animalattraction.com. What (datemypet.com)'s creator, Rob Yau, recognized as this market's appeal is the strong sense that many people have: People with animals translate to people with heart.' Two-thirds of the surveyed users said they'd prefer to see a picture of a potential date with his or her pet than without.
