Cheek’d Is Online Dating In Reverse

Posted on April 23, 2012

Cheekd logoTECH CRUNCH – Apr 22 – At Cheek'd website users fill out a profile and order a deck of cards, which say things like “act natural, we can get awkward later”. The cards also have a short ID code on them, with a URL for the Cheek’d website. When a suitor receives the card, the idea is that they’re so filled with curiosity that they enter the code on Cheek’d and are taken to user's profile page. Members pay $9.95 for a monthly subscription to keep their profile live. They have to pay extra for the cards which come in various sizes with corresponding pricing.

Cheek’d: Dating Service with “Business Cards”

Posted on July 19, 2011

Cheekd logo THE NEXT WEB – July 19 – Cheek'd, a NYC based dating network, bridges the gap between online dating and real-world by providing members with physical cards that they can use to entice people from the real world to flirt with them in the virtual world.  The company was founded last year.  Each member receives a deck of calling cards including short, ‘cheeky’ statements such as: “act natural, we can get awkward later” “don’t overthink this” and “emotionally available”, as well as a link and code id. The recipient of the card logs onto the Cheek’d website, enters the code, reviews the card-giver’s profile and then can send the card-giver a message for free.

Technology And Innovation Transform Online Dating

Posted on January 26, 2011

Cheekd logo BUFFALO NEWS – Jan 25 – A host of new online dating services are transforming the online dating landscape with innovative new ideas, adding alternatives to traditional online dating. With more than 800 online dating sites, according to Mark Brooks, who edits Online Personals Watch, consumers have many decisions to make before the dating even begins. Launched in 2010, Cheek'd, provides members with cards, similar to business cards, containing an icebreaker message and a code. Cards are given to potential dates offline to hopefully initiate an online contact. Virtual world, Weopia, allows people to go on cyber dates prior to meeting in person. Other sites, such as SpeedDate, Skout, Goodwizz, and CanDoBetter, are all adding interesting alternatives for the estimated 20 million Americans who date online.

Connection Cards Are The Newest Dating Tool

Posted on September 16, 2010

Flipme dating cards TIMEOUT NEW YORK – Sep 15 – Dating sites, FlipMe and Cheek’d, have created decks of dating cards with short messages and links to user profiles. FlipMe's deck of 30 cards is $24.99 and Cheek'd's deck of 50 cards is $25.00. Users hand a card to a stranger who they are interested in, prompting them to visit the user's profile on the corresponding dating site. The New Dating Tools: A Card And A Wink

Posted on July 22, 2010

Cheekd logo NY TIMES – July 21 – Unlike traditional dating sites where members spend hours on computers writing profiles and scrutinizing photographs, a raft of newfangled dating tools are striving to better bridge the gap between online and real-world romance. Ms. Cheek, an architect, founded one such venture, Cheek’d, which had its debut in May. Users receive calling cards to dole out to alluring strangers they encounter in their everyday lives, be it in a club or in a subway on their morning commute. Recipients of the cards can use the identification code printed on them to log onto Cheekd.com and send a message to their admirer. Cheek’d is not the only new company integrating calling cards and the Internet. Inspired by their own love story, Rachel and John DeAlto, 30 and 33, founded FlipMe!, which was introduced a few weeks ago and works similarly to Cheek’d. Card users said companies like FlipMe! and Cheek’d are emboldening them to approach people who might otherwise have been missed connections. Other companies are helping singles connect through location-based technology on their mobile phones. In the last few years the number of Web sites and apps like Grindr, Are You Interested? and Urban Signals, has swelled. One of the biggest is the free iPhone dating application Skout, which recently surpassed its millionth member.
