Hello Group Celebrates 15 Years, Coffee Meets Bagel Quietly Joins the Portfolio

OPW – Hello Group is celebrating 15 years since the launch of Momo in 2011. The company reached 100M+ users and listed on Nasdaq in 2014, before changing its name from Momo Inc. to Hello Group in 2021. Today, its portfolio includes Momo, Tantan, happn, Coffee Meets Bagel Worldwide, SoulChill, TieTie, Pato, Yaahlan, amar and several other social and AI products. Coffee Meets Bagel Worldwide appears to have been quietly added to Hello Group’s portfolio. Coffee Meets Bagel split into two independently operated businesses in 2024 – CMB U.S. and CMB Worldwide. CMB Worldwide is now operated by Hello Group’s Singapore team, while CMB U.S. remains separate. No deal or acquisition was publicly announced.

Coffee Meets Bagel Details Its Anti-Catfishing Safety Systems

BUSINESSTODAY – Coffee Meets Bagel has outlined the technology behind its efforts to prevent catfishing and improve user safety. As soon as someone signs up, its safety systems begin working in parallel. These include fake-account detection, AI-generated and edited photo detection, fraud monitoring, message moderation, reputation checks, and human review. In Singapore, ~80% of users are verified through Singpass, while 81% of active users completed selfie verification within three months of its launch.

Coffee Meets Bagel Relaunches in Australia

NEWS.COM.AU – Coffee Meets Bagel has relaunched with a redesigned matchmaking system intended to reduce endless swiping and encourage in-person dates. Its Australian research found that 82% of users swipe without intending to message or meet, while 59% are dating to marry and 91% find modern dating apps challenging. New features include a curated daily selection of up to 22 matches, seven-day chat expiry, personalized opening suggestions, profile-specific notes and activity reports showing users’ messaging behavior. The research also found that 87% of Australian daters are open to AI assistance.

Coffee Meets Bagel Updates App With AI Features

HER WORLD – Coffee Meets Bagel has launched CMB 2.0, introducing AI conversation prompts, a Real Dates scheduling feature, and Singpass identity verification in Singapore. The app also expanded its AI moderation tools to detect fake profiles and inappropriate messages. Since the rollout began in June 2026, the company says messages sent with likes have increased 30%, while average profile viewing time is up 21%.

Coffee Meets Bagel Teams up With SG Culture Pass to Redefine Valentine’s Dates

THE STRAITS TIMES – Coffee Meets Bagel (CMB) has partnered with Singapore’s $300M SG Culture Pass initiative to offer singles exclusive perks on arts and culture events starting Feb 14. The year-long collaboration includes priority access, discounts and upgrades for 11 date-friendly experiences, encouraging users to use their $100 Culture Pass credits on “offline” cultural dates. The Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth said the move aims to reach singles actively dating.

Data from Coffee Meets Bagel’s survey of US users aged 21–35 shows 54% prioritize financial stability and nearly 60% value ambition, reflecting a pragmatic shift toward relationships that support economic security and shared life goals.

Top Challenges for Online Daters, According to Coffee Meets Bagel

MASHABLE – Coffee Meets Bagel’s 2025 Dating Realness Report, based on a survey of 1K U.S. daters aged 21–35, finds that most people are serious about relationships. 61% want a spouse and 31% want a long-term partner, but 93% say dating is difficult. The biggest pain points are endless swiping (54%), ghosting or unmatching (47%), and not knowing how to start conversations (43%). 80% are comfortable with AI helping with dating tasks, but 65% would be less likely to engage with someone if they knew that person used AI to write their profile or messages. Emotional connection is a must for 73%, ahead of physical attraction (63%), shared values (59%), and ambition (57%).

Dating App Coffee Meets Bagel Rolls out Identity Verification

CoffeeMeetsBagel logoTHE STRAITS TIMES – Coffee Meets Bagel (CMB) has introduced identity verification in Singapore using government records accessed through Singpass, allowing users to confirm details like age, gender, and marital status via their national ID. ~70% of users are now verified. From July 15, users can filter out unverified profiles. A survey showed 75% of users had encountered fake profiles, with 81% supporting stricter identity checks. Scam complaints dropped from 0.56% to 0.21% since the rollout. While many welcomed the change, some raised privacy concerns. CMB says all data is encrypted, securely stored, and managed in line with Singapore's data protection laws.

During his time, he led over 50% growth, shifted to user-generated content for ads, introduced a four-day work week, and rebuilt the company’s marketing tools without engineering support. He now works as a fractional CMO.
