AI Dating Startups Shift From Subscriptions to Pay-for-Match

Posted on February 16, 2026

PITCHBOOK – Several startups are replacing swipe subscriptions with pay-for-results dating. Keeper’s AI charges a $5K fee per match and offers a $50K “marriage bounty,” meaning the client only pays the full amount if the relationship meets its long-term criteria (such as marriage or equivalent commitment). Known uses voice-analysis AI and charges when it sets up a date. Sitch sells arranged date packages (~$90 for three matches in New York). Ditto, focused on students, is free and positioned as a broader social-connection platform. The shift is from paying to browse profiles to paying for actual introductions or outcomes.

Video Is Fueling the Newest Group of Dating App Startups

Posted on February 16, 2023

Video datingTECH CRUNCH – TechCrunch looked at three new video-based dating startups that are using video to connect people in advance of their real-world dates.

Candid
Launched on February 14 to offer users a new TikTok-style dating app with video profiles to show off their personality. The 45-second videos are recorded in-app, so potential matches know the video was recently taken and is authentic.

Ditto
Formerly known as Iso Date, Ditto is the startup's new video speed dating app where users can have 3-minute speed dating sessions via live video chat. The sessions occur every Tuesday from 8 -9 p.m. ET. Ditto is currently available to New York users only.

IRLY
Another video chat-based dating app, IRLY (I Really Like You), is launching on Feb 28. Catering to Gen Z, IRLY lets users video chat with a potential match and play in-app games like "Truth or Dare," "Would You Rather" and more. IRLY was founded in 2021 by Canada-based university students Connor Rose and Laura Rollock. Social media influencer Cameron Dallas joined as a co-founder in Nov 2022.

Ditto Dating App Only Allows One Match At A Time

Posted on January 30, 2018

Ditto screenshot1METRO.CO.UK – Jan 29 – With Ditto, users are mutually exclusive with one match on the app, until one of them unmatches. The makers hope the app will 'bring some sincerity to a rather shallow culture' and they reckon it's like taking the real world of dating and putting it into an app. Which assumes that people only date one person at a time in real life which is just not true. Users swipe through potential suitors until they get to one they like, swipe right and hope for the best. Once they get a match, they're both blocked from swiping other users. Once they hit unmatch, they're given the following options to choose from to send as a reason to Ted – inappropriate messages, not enough chemistry, long response times, showed little interest, or no real reason. The apps makers reckon that while offering a reason seems harsh, it's actually kinder than ghosting, as it leaves no false hope and allows both of them to move on.
