YAHOO FINANCE – Teleport CEO Chad Goodman recently discussed their invite-only dating app in an interview, highlighting the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for matchmaking. Teleport sets itself apart by offering a membership-based matchmaking service for highly eligible singles worldwide. Users engage in self-discovery sessions and provide preferences to the AI algorithm, which then provides three compatible matches each week. With a focus on intentionality and a curated dating pool, Teleport aims to create meaningful connections. Unlike larger dating brands, Teleport's business model prioritizes transparency and paid services rather than profiting from user attention. The company has plans to expand its user base once their technology is further developed.

Dating Via Video Chat Takes off Amid COVID-19
CTV NEWS – Apr 21 – Since the outbreak of coronavirus, a number of video-based dating apps have begun to surface, including Swivel and Quarantine Together. Even established dating apps such as Bumble are making adjustments to adapt to the new reality. One of the latest apps helping users connect via video is Teleport, formerly known as Firstdate. Founded in Toronto, the platform features a series of paid speed dating "events" organized by professional matchmakers from across the world. Users are hand-picked to join events based on compatibility. They meet with five people for six minutes each in an effort to find a match. The unique thing about the app, explained co-founder Chad Goodman, is that users can't look at each other's profiles before meeting. The app currently has ~6K users and is active in 21 countries. According to Goodman, video allows people to focus on what really matters when looking for a partner – a great connection. Hinge has a new "Date from Home" feature where users can tell someone whether or not they're ready for a virtual date.

Matchmakers Are Helping Singles Forge Digital Connections
NOW TORONTO – Apr 15 – Toronto's dating professionals are still making matches, and clients learning to adapt. Christina Jay of Preferred Match has seen a marked change in her clients over the past month: "I think singles are getting pretty antsy and those who were initially opposed to a FaceTime date are now open to it, given the circumstances." Celebrity matchmaker and TV personality Carmelia Ray offers video dating introductions, virtual speed dating events through local platform FirstDate, and even a live weekly matchmaking event called Spicy Love she co-hosts with Miami matchmaker Michelle G. Love coach and matchmaker Lee-Anne Galloway is seeing a willingness among singles to expand their previously-restrictive dating parameters: "I do find myself focusing on coaching more – coaching clients to refocus on what's most important to them in a relationship, as this period of isolation is really highlighting their values and true desires." Rebecca Cooper Traynor of Match Me Canada puts it into plain terms: "There's no room for pickiness. When they are looking for love, here's what people should have on their minds: Could they be isolated with this person?"
