ABC NEWS – Sep 22 – Healthvana's goal is for people to have easy access to their own health records, including their STD results. They partnered with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation to create a service that sends patients' results from the laboratory right to their smartphone. Users must enter into a secure portal through the app before receiving their results. Through the app, users will also be able to share their medical records with a potential sex partner.

Native Hawaiians Protest Againts The Name Of ‘Hula’ App
AP – Mar 26 – Hula, a new dating app designed to provide proof someone is free from sexually transmitted diseases is drawing criticism from Native Hawaiians. An online petition is asking for the "Hula" app to change its name.

STD App Hula Partners With Dating Apps
SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN – Nov 21 - Hula app stores sexually transmitted disease test results in one place and, if users like, can discretely notify sex partners of their health status. The app makes people more aware of the need to be tested for STDs and to share the outcome with sexual partners. Hula is also hoping that it can help to reduce the risk of sex with people who met through the location-based dating apps. Hula has partnered with a gay dating app Mister. Mister is encouraging users to find local testing centers, and making their test results available to online “friends" via Hula.

The app also helps users find nearby STD testing centers, share their status, and receive reminders every 6 to 12 months when it’s time for another test. The app “unzips” their results only for people they choose to share them with.

CNN.COM – May 14 – At any given time, 110M Americans have a sexually transmitted infection, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Young people contract half of all new cases. They're also tech-savvy, and that's driving the development of new high-tech STD prevention tools geared toward them. Qpid.me users can share their verified test results for HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis. Their status comes directly from their own U.S. health care provider. It shows when they got tested and includes a disclaimer that notes the user may have had sex since then. Another STD tech tool helps people have difficult conversations with past lovers such as sotheycanknow.org. Another STD tech tool out there is an app called STD Triage. Worried you might have symptoms of an STD? This service lets you take a picture of a rash, for example, and for ~$40, you can send it in and get a response back from a doctor within a day about what it might be.
