Loko – Video Chat Dating App
PEOPLE – Feb 14 – Norm MacDonald, the comedian and his friend, Vivek Jain, have developed a dating app called Loko, which aims to separate itself from similar services by asking users to rely on video chats to get to know their matches. Loko is free to sign up, but users will have to pay $1.49 to use the app for a week, or $3.49 for a month. Having a small paywall helps to ensure users are the real deal, as opposed to being a bot. So far, tens of thousands of users in cities such as LA and New York City have downloaded the app.

CBC.CA – Mar 11 – Vivek Jain has had a career that's seen him bounce from Bermuda, New York and London. He's bought a football team with Motley Crue's Vince Neal, and his latest venture has seen him come up with a video dating app that he launched with comedian Norm MacDonald. MacDonald and Jain ended up meeting at a technology conference and hitting it off, followed by meeting again on a plane. The two stayed in touch, so when Jain told MacDonald about how his kids were telling him he should go out and date more, they began brainstorming ideas for dating apps. They came up with an idea for a video dating app called LOKO, that would allow people to see each other and talk before meeting.
Comedian Norm MacDonald Launches Video Dating App – LOKO
USA TODAY – Sep 7 – Comedian Norm MacDonald just co-created a new video dating app, LOKO. The LOKO app came out of a corporate gig, where he met Canadian entrepreneur Vivek Jain, who complained about his lack of success finding dates. The two decided to combine forces and come up with an app that would eliminate the awkwardness of a first date. It's the first video-only app, in that the only way to communicate with people is with video. After downloading the app, users register and record an 8-second video intro. Once approved other users can see it and respond.
Comedian Norm MacDonald Co-Created A Video-Only Dating App
URBAN DADDY – Aug 23 – Video dating app Loko launched this month in the US and Canada. It's a video-based dating app that places an emphasis on getting users face-to-face with a match. First, users create a video-only profile, which is an eight-second max introduction, and an optional "About Me" video, which can run up to 30 seconds. Every profile is approved by an administrator before going live. Then they'll swipe through potential matches, as they would with other dating apps. Once a connection is made, they'll have 24 hours to schedule a virtual "Elimidate" in the app. The "Elimidate" is essentially a pre-date interview: an up-to-15-minute video chat with the match.
