On MyLovelyParent, Mothers Outnumber Fathers 4:1

Posted on January 2, 2013

Mylovelyparent logoPOSTMEDIA NEWS – Dec 30 – MyLovelyParent is a site on which adult children help their single parents find companionship. The ratio of women to men is about 4:1 – a problematic phenomenon for a matchmaking site. Site founder Matt Connolly believes life expectancy isn’t the whole story. “I think it has much more to do with confidence,” says Connolly. “The older we get as chaps, the less confident we become in meeting people. As a result, the fear of failure builds up and we eventually stop trying.”

MyLovelyParent Helps Adult Kids Play Matchmaker For Their Parents

Posted on December 5, 2012

Mylovelyparent logoCHICAGO TRIBUNE – Dec 4 - Matt Connolly created
myLovelyParent, which launched in October. It is active in many
countries, including the U.S.

Q: How is this different from other dating sites?
A: I designed it to
be incredibly easy to use. The journey starts with the adult child.
They start the profile. Then parents get the invitation.

Q: Do the adult kids reach out to the potential mates?
A: No, that's only done between the parents.

Q: What kind of feedback have you gotten from clients?
A:
I got the most wonderful email from a lady.  She wrote: "Thank you so
much, because no matter what happens with dating, it was worth it just
to read what my son wrote about me.

MyLovelyParent: Over-50s Online Dating Site

Posted on October 24, 2012

Mylovelyparent logoTELEGRAPH.CO.UK – Oct 24 – With ~5.8M people 45+ living alone and ~1.7M women 65+ who are widowed in the UK, online dating for the over-50s has become big business. New entrant myLovelyParent.com goes live on Friday. Matt Connolly conceived the idea when his single mother asked him why he couldn't help her find somebody. He found was that most single parents would never consider online dating without their child's encouragement. At myLovelyParent.com, instead of a friend describing the hopeful singleton, the adult children describe their 'older' single parent.

MyLovelyParent.com: Where Kids Get Involved In Parent’s Love Life

Posted on September 11, 2012

Mylovelyparent logoINDEPENDENT.CO.UK. – Sep 11 – Having an unattached parent gave two brothers (Matt and Tim Connolly) an idea for MyLovelyParent.com, a dating site where they could advertise their lovely mum to prospective suitors. A child signs up its parent, writes a profile for them and they can then browse the site and send recommendations of people they like into their mother or father's inbox. With 30% of Brits in their fifties single, divorced or widowed, the potential market for a dating tool that targets older members of the populous is large. Bob Greg, founder of OnlyDads.org, a website giving advice and support to single dads, thinks MyLovelyParent.com is "a good idea, until you really think about it. It could put an awful lot of pressure on children in an area that's not really any of their business," he says. "What happens when a relationship they've had a hand in goes wrong? It could impact on the child."

New UK Site Lets Kids Set Parents Up

Posted on August 20, 2012

Mylovelyparent logoHUFFINGTON POST – Aug 17 – myLovelyParent is a new dating site for UK people 50+. The site was created by two brothers who want to help their "very lovely single mum in her 60s" find "handsome chaps" for friendship or companionship. British sons and daughters can sign up their single parents and create an online profile for them. They can then search the site for people they think would be perfect for their parent and "recommend" standout profiles to their lovelorn 'rents. Automatic emails with their kid's suggestions are sent to the parents. The start up is still in beta and accepting requests for invitations when it goes live in September.
