BUSINESS WIRE – RAW, the dating app topping Google Play in the US and UK, has introduced a system that lets women decide which men remain on the platform. Users can flag behavior directly on profiles: green for positive, beige for neutral, and red for harmful. Green flags boost visibility, while repeated red flags lead to permanent removal. The flags come from a fixed list to prevent abuse, with moderation ensuring fairness. RAW’s data shows top red flags include having an ex in the profile (24%), mansplaining (19%), and not texting back (17%), while green flags reward good texting (31%), asking questions (28%), and planning dates (19%). Co-founder Marina Anderson said the goal is accountability, safety, and giving respectful men more visibility.

Dating App Raw Exposed Users’ Location Data and Personal Information

Posted on May 5, 2025

RAW logoTECH CRUNCH – Dating app Raw exposed users' personal data and precise location information due to a security flaw. The app leaked names, birthdates, preferences, and GPS data through a public server lacking proper authentication. The app did not use end-to-end encryption as claimed. Raw fixed the bug after being contacted, but has not notified affected users or undergone a third-party security audit. The vulnerability was due to an insecure direct object reference (IDOR), a known and easily exploitable bug.

Pitch Deck Teardown: RAW Dating App’s $3M Angel Deck

Posted on June 3, 2024

RAW logoTECH CRUNCH – The RAW Dating App aims to shake up the dating scheme by shedding the fake, TikTok-ified, heavily filtered photos and replacing them with a more genuine, unvarnished experience. The app targets young professionals and students, particularly women aged 21 to 27, who seek genuine interactions. The company claims to have raised $3M, though this remains unverified. According to Tech Crunch, the app's pitch deck has notable issues, such as presenting solutions before problems and lacking clear market data, go-to-market strategy, and business model. The competitive analysis is weak, and some slides are poorly defined or titled. Despite these flaws, the solution slide is clear and well-articulated, highlighting the app's approach to solving dating app problems, but the overall presentation needs significant improvement.
