Loving or Hating Trump Is a Big Deal Breaker

Posted on October 10, 2019

Donalddaters iconDESERET NEWS – Oct 10 – According to the 2017 American Family Survey, the overwhelming majority of Americans who are married report that their spouse belongs to the same political party. Surveys from the Pew Research Center indicate people now are more likely to marry someone of a different race or religion than to cross party lines to find a husband or wife. While Conservatives Only, one of the most established platforms, launched during the Obama administration, a handful of other right-leaning online dating services have been created since. Trump Singles was released just a few months before the 2016 presidential election, but the website no longer appears to be in operation. Patrio, with a mission to "bring right-leaning individuals together" came on the scene in 2017. DonaldDaters and Righter, the newest of the bunch, were released in 2018. Righter encourages women to be ladylike and men to make the first move. Emily Moreno, the founder of Donald Daters, told Vox that anti-conservative discrimination was one of her reasons for creating the app last year. She said she once had a date walk out on her after she told him she worked on a Republican Senate campaign. There are a number of dating websites for the left-leaning singles as well, including NeverTrump.dating, a response to Trump.dating, Democratic People Meet and Liberal Hearts, which welcomes all left-leaning and progressive daters including LGBTQ people. CandiDate is a nonpartisan app that explores each user's political preferences in order to make matches based on their beliefs on issues like the environment, economy, gun reform, abortion and gay rights.

Righter Is the Dating app For Donald Trump Fans

Posted on June 26, 2019

Righter logoTHE MORNING SHOW – June 26 – Christy Edwards Lawton is the brains behind Righter – an app designed to help President Trump fans find one another. "I had a demand coming from some veterans and men, masculine men who felt that they were being suppressed a bit," Lawton said. "So I decided to launch an app for conservatives, and men and women who were seeking traditional values and monogamous dating, and were sick and tired of hookups." Lawton has also previously said feminists weren't allowed on her app.

Meet the Founder of Righter, a Dating App for Conservatives

Posted on January 31, 2019

Righter christy edwards lawtonDAILYMAIL.CO.UK – Jan 30 – Christy Edwards Lawton, 41, launched conservative dating app Righter last month after a Republican New York model complained she couldn't find a date. She is a banker-turned-elite-matchmaker who says: 'Not on any level would I raise my daughter as a feminist'. Righter targets users who believe that 'men should be men' and women should be 'feminine, not feminist,' promoting traditional gender roles. Christy says they have 20K global users already after a soft launch in December, all of them conservatives looking for like-minded partners. Christy had run an elite matchmaking service called StreetFox previously. Before that, she worked in banking. Righter has given her a new passion and purpose. It's free to sign up, but upgrades cost ~$10 a month.

The Rise of Right-wing Dating Apps

Posted on December 27, 2018

Dating apps for conservativesVOX.COM – Dec 26 – In recent years, a crop of conservative dating startups have launched. Some, like Righter and Conservatives Only, are only for conservatives. Others, like Donald Daters claim they're open to people of all political stripes who are interested in dating Republicans. Bumble has recently introduced a "filtering" feature that lets people weed out matches who don't meet their political, astrological, or lifestyle preferences. Emily Moreno, the founder of Donald Daters, said she once had a date walk out on her after she said she had worked on a Republican Senate campaign. Earlier this year, Politico magazine documented the dating trials of millennial Trump staffers, many of whom claimed that supporting the president makes them outcasts – even in Washington, DC. A 2017 survey by OkCupid found that 74% of its users considered voting for Trump a deal breaker. Donald Daters launched in October and claimed 20K downloads in the first few weeks after launch. Righter takes a different approach than Donald Daters. Righter is "for us, by us," founder Christy Edwards Lawton said. "Us," of course, means conservatives. Lawton said she got the idea for Righter after meeting a "beautiful" woman at a Republican fundraiser in Manhattan whose politics interfered with her dating life.

Dating App for Trump Supporters Says It Will Sue Liberals Who Try to Join

Posted on December 7, 2018

Righter logoTHE HILL – Dec 4 – Christy Edwards Lawton, founder of the app Righter, said that her legal team is prepared to file lawsuits against leftists who try to infiltrate the platform after it launches later this month. Lawton, a former banker from Wyoming, said she was inspired to create Righter after hearing stories of conservative women being rejected on mainstream platforms because of their political beliefs. Righter is not the only dating app geared toward conservatives. DonaldDaters launched in October for Trump supporters but faced backlash after it leaked its entire database of users on its first day. The site is marketed toward Trump backers but said everyone was welcome.
