Canadian Dating App Spark Encourages Singles to Debate

Sparkcom logo 2020INSAUGA – Oct 22 – Spark, a dating app that launched in Canada last summer, is launching the 'Change My Mind' feature that enables singles to upload a 20-second video stating their opinion on a popularly divisive topic, and other users can respond with a video of their own. One of Spark's recent surveys found 82% of Canadian singles said they are more attracted to people with passionate opinions. The same survey found 70% of respondents said they enjoy debating light-hearted topics with a date, while 73% consider debating with someone to be a form of flirting.

Spark: New Creativity-Focused Dating App Picks Canada for Global Debut

Spark app is the latest product from Spark Networks. The company designed Spark around the concept of 'frames.' These include photo filters and interactive question cards that allow users to curate a unique profile, and match with others on what matters to them. Spark has now successfully launched in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg, and the team aims to significantly increase Spark's presence across Canada throughout the summer.

Instead of mindlessly swiping right or left, Spark prompts users to compare two local singles and swipe their favorite. If that person likes the user back, it's a match.
