Struck – a Dating App for Astrology Lovers

Posted on February 15, 2021

Struck logoCHICAGO TRIBUNE – Feb 13 – Struck, a dating app that matches users based on their birth charts (the placements of the sun, moon and planets at the time of a person's birth), launched this past summer, initially in LA, San Francisco and New York. The new app recently became available to Chicago residents. To get started on Struck, users create their profiles, and must enter their birth information, so Struck can generate a birth chart to help find suitable matches. While signing up, users choose a list of personality traits, uniquely populated off their birth chart, and life priorities, such as family, arts and culture, socializing and partying.

Struck, a Dating App That Matches Users Based on Their Entire Birth Chart

Posted on August 19, 2020

Struck logoCOSMOPOLITAN – Aug 18 – Struck is a new dating app, which launched last month in LA and the Bay Area after a long battle to get in Apple's App Store, and expanded to New York in early August. Designed by former Apple engineers Rachel Lo and Alex Calkins and advised by astrologer Nadine Jane, the app puts astrology front and center. Along with name, age, and gender, Struck asks for the date, time, and location of users' birth to calculate their birth chart.

After Numerous Rejections, Dating App Struck Hits the App Store

Posted on July 22, 2020

Struck logoTECH CRUNCH – July 21 – Founded by former Apple engineers, a new app called Struck wants to be the astrology-based Tinder. But it took close to 10 attempts over several months for the startup to get its app approved by Apple. App reviewers flagged the app as "spam" either due to its use of astrology or simply because it was designed for online dating. Apple guideline states that developers should "avoid piling on to a category that is already saturated," and reminds developers that the App Store has "enough fart, burp, flashlight, fortune telling, dating, and Kama Sutra apps, etc. already." Apple will reject anything that "doesn't offer a high-quality experience."
