OPPOSING VIEWS – Dec 28 – People passing by a West Valley City billboard were in for a surprise. The billboard advertised the dating service WhereWhitePeopleMeet.com. According to the site's founder; "Our intentions in creating this dating site were never meant to be racist or biased in any way. In fact, my personal views are those of tolerance, love, acceptance and understanding." The site was launched in early 2016.

Founders Of WhereWhitePeopleMeet.com Say They Aren’t Racist
ABC NEWS – Mar 15 – In the $1B industry, being very specific is becoming the norm. Dating sites are going the extra mile, allowing users to filter data options according to religion, height, body size, and race. However, recent data shows 54% of millennials are dating outside their race. 88% saying they'd be open to it. On WhereWhitePeopleMeet.com, users are not required to check a white racial preference. Nor are they kicked off for not being white. Even though the name would suggest otherwise. The site launched last year and sparked controversy over its billboard that had to be taken down.

‘Where White People Meet’ Billboard Taken Down
FOX13NOW – Jan 12 – A billboard advertising the online dating site "Where White People Meet" has been taken down. Dave Goldberg with Compass Billboards said the contract with the dating site expired. He added it was not taken down because of complaints. Sam Russell, creator of the dating site, said he wasn't happy about the decision and is working to get a new billboard up.

THE WASHINGTON POST – Jan 4 – Sam Russell suspected his dating startup, Where White People Meet, would ruffle a few Internet feathers. This is Russell's first foray into the online dating industry; he's spent most of his career in auto sales, as the president of Automatic Car Credit. "It's about equal opportunity," Russell explained. "The last thing in the world I am is racist." While an early version of the site has been online since August, the site officially launched last weekend when Russell unveiled a billboard southwest of Salt Lake City.
