Tinder Gives Previously Passed Profiles a Second Chance

Posted on September 28, 2026

LIFE AT TINDER – Tinder has introduced “dynamic recycling” to give active users more recommendations when they begin running out of new profiles. Recent passes remain hidden, and unseen profiles are prioritised, but older profiles can reappear under controlled conditions. Tinder found that users were still willing to engage with strong potential matches they had previously passed on. The system limits repeated exposure and works alongside Tinder’s existing recommendation models.

Safety remains a concern for 60%, and 52% consider verified profiles and strong safety measures important when choosing an app. Although 63% said dating apps help them feel less alone, 58% feel connected online but lonely in real life.

Lora

BUSINESS INSIDER – Michelle Parsons, a former Hinge executive and co-founder of queer social app Lex, has launched Lora, a social astrology app backed by pre-seed investor AlleyCorp. Its AI chatbot uses birth charts to offer advice on relationships and personal development, while users can also book human astrologers, tarot readers, and coaches. Parsons said the aim is to help users recognise patterns in their lives rather than simply give them the answers they want to hear.

Tinder Swindler Plans to Launch Safe Love Dating App

Posted on September 28, 2026
Simon Leviev

IB TIMES – Simon Leviev, known as the Tinder Swindler, plans to launch a dating app called Safe Love. He claims his experience with manipulation would help him identify romance scams and protect users. The Online Dating and Discovery Association has urged Apple and Google to block the app, arguing that a convicted fraudster should not operate a dating platform. Leviev was convicted in Israel in 2019 of theft, fraud, and forgery. Safe Love has not yet launched, and it is unclear whether it will receive app-store approval.

HINGE – Hinge says technology has created more digital interaction without making people feel closer, a problem it calls the “closeness crisis.” The company is holding its first Heads Up conference to bring together researchers, founders, and community groups to discuss healthier technology. Hinge argues that products should be measured by real-world outcomes rather than screen time.

LAW360 – The City of Hallandale Beach Police Officers’ and Firefighters’ Personnel Retirement Trust has sued Match Group in Delaware for access to board records about reports of sexual assault and violence involving Tinder, Hinge, and other Match-owned apps. The shareholder wants to investigate whether directors properly monitored the company’s Sentinel safety database, which the complaint says has recorded reports of rape and assault since 2019. It is seeking board and committee minutes to establish what directors knew, how they responded, and whether they breached their duties. Match rejected several requests for the documents between September 2025 and August 2026.

Posted on September 25, 2026

NORTH TEXAS DAILY – Hundreds of fake parking tickets placed on cars at the University of North Texas were used to promote the dating app DOWN. The tickets were designed to resemble real parking citations but included a QR code linking to the app and encouraged students to go out on Friday night. UNT Transportation Services warned students not to scan the codes and said placing promotional material on vehicles without permission violates university policy. The stunt drew mixed reactions from students, with some finding it funny and others describing it as “creepy.”
