ALL THINGS CONSIDERED — Oct 18 — Speed dating has taken root in India, mixing traditional and modern ideas about love. Some of the clientele — mostly young professionals who can afford the fee — are sent by their families to find a partner, while others lie to their families about what they're doing. I blocked/deleted india after i had 60,000 male signups, 2,000 female signups of which 1,500 where from escorts.
We went even further than just India by blocking China, Russia, Ukraine, Africa, etc., as well. Good riddance, I say.
Abuse was cut by 99% overnight.
ya i blocked the others as well. Turkey and india just had huge signup rates, so i was reluctant to block them at first. All combined the blocked countries produced over 1000 signups a day, thats a lot of traffic to ban.
Yes, Marcus, but is the abuse from those places (esp. India) worth the traffic?
Mind you, you are not getting subscription revenue, so you don’t have the fraud issues.
Also, places like Turkey & India can’t afford our services, anyway. So, there was no point servicing, them, esp. when we factored in the abuse quotient (from India; Turkey not much, as it is primarily Muslim, so don’t frequent us).
We permit places like the Philippines on ChristianCafe.com, for while most cannot afford to join past their free trial, few if any, are into scams or abuse. And, a lot of our US traffic develop relationships with them.
