I just came across this news piece from January….
MOSNEWS.COM — Jan 25 — A database containing on-line correspondence of at least two million users of Russia's biggest dating service Mamba.ru was been stolen by hackers and is on sale, local media reported. Spam message advertising states that politicians, businessmen, pop stars and famous sportsmen can be found among its users. The sellers claim all the site's intimate letters can be found on the DVD they offer.
The full article was originally published at MosNews.com, but is no longer available.

Welcome To Russia where everything is possible 🙂 The most funny thing is foolishness of those hackers because there are a lot of other ways how to use this database without selling it to the crowd and earn much more than $3.50 per DVD.
Few months ago hackers have stolen one of the largest hosting providers database and included script which showed drug ads on most of the websites hosted there…
But seriuosly speaking it looks like someone from competitors (typical standart services) has asked those hackers to hack database and to steal database.
hmmm…..actually, this story isn’t true. I know Mamba and I live in Moscow, and believe me, you can’t buy this database. If it really were for sale it would make the news, and frankly, Mosnews isn’t a “proper” news source by any stretch of the imagination.
please note that the release is dated of Jan 25. This is “black PR”.
No one has ever seen this DVD in Moscow.
Mamba is one of the largest dating sites in the world with 35,000 online members
and 30,000 signup per day.
