OPW — Nov 6 — The new Hitwise USA online dating rankings are in. TRUE holds onto their #1 spot. I keep seeing them everywhere. They're doing a lot of ad buys. The sexy ads are working. They're differentiating against the likes of eHarmony for sure. Sex sells. eHarmony moves down one spot to take 6th place and PlentyofFish jives on up to 5th place. LoveAccess moves up three places to take 12th spot. Nelson (the CEO) has been very busy working on a new spin for LoveAccess for the last several months – premium matchmaking services. Now they're finding time to drive new ad buys. Hotornot moves down two spots to 14th and Adam4Adam moves down one spot to 15th position. – Mark Brooks

The owner of Plenty of Fish actually had an interesting SEO article a few months ago on an SEO forum. Sorry I don’t have the link, but the guy was clearing ~$10K a day just from AdSense and the like. Pretty neat.
Dear Mark,
We understand the source of traffic of true.com – huge advertising campaigns.
We understand the source of traffic of match.com – from partners like msn and aol, and we understand the source of traffic of personals.yahoo.com.
But we absolutely do not understand the source of traffic of PlentyofFish.
Next time when you interview the owner of PlentyofFish, please ask him about where from he gets such huge traffic.
I think the answers will be: this is all about viral marketing and traffic from search engines. Yes, there is such traffic
coming to his site, but it will not make more than 5%.
But you will not hear where the rest 95% of the traffic is coming from.
Why is he working alone? I think he is afraid to hire somene else because in this case there will be a leak of information
about the source of his traffic. Why do inverstors stand in line for him but he refuses to cooperate with them? I think this is beacause if he gets and inverstor, he will have to declare his traffic sources. And he either cannot or does not want to do it.
Who says the sexy ads are working for True? Do you have any numbers showing that they are making money from these ads?
