LAWFUEL — Apr 11 — A lawsuit against DontDateHimGirl.com (1 million subscribers) was dismissed. Todd Hollis, a Pittsburgh attorney who claims to have been defamed by statements posted on the site by women who say they dated him, filed the defamation case in June 2006 in Pennsylvania state court. In recent months similar cases have been dismissed in courts in California and Texas against MySpace.com and Craiglist.com using the Communications Decency Act, a law which protects forum providers on the Internet against legal claims arising from posts made by third parties.

That “article” is very misleading because it is just a republished press release, from the defendant, that LawFuel posted. The claim is that it is a major victory for free speech. There was no such victory because there was no ruling for or against the merits of the case. The ruling was that the lawsuit was filed in the wrong state and needs to be filed in Florida.
I’ve written a lot on this story and have received many emails from men distraught over misinformation/lies that was posted on that site (along with their their picture, address, etc.), which the site owner refused to remove or edit. The site owner’s response to everything seems to be “write a rebuttle”.
