WASHINGTON BUSINESS JOURNAL — June 22 — Local entrepreneurs Mark Ezra and Ric Fleisher hand their Honesty Online struck a deal with dating site Mate1.com Inc. to certify truth in profiles. Mate1.com will promote the service to its 15.5 million members and receive a fee for each sign up. Val, it must have been over a year since you last visited our site. Mate1 suffered a brief plague of West African scammers about a year ago (they represented a minuscule percentage of members, but a troublesome one). We quickly caught on and used a combination of technological and human resources to eradicate the problem altogether. The Honesty Online partnership is not designed to combat foreign scammers (we have an anti-fraud team and member tip system to handle that); it’s designed to promote trust between honest members on the site.
