TIMES COLONIST — Aug 1 — Most people have heard of the notorious Nigerian email scam, but at least one person now has fallen for the Nigerian dating scam. A British Columbian man sent $2,000 to his Internet girlfriend so she could buy a plane ticket from Nigeria to Vancouver International Airport. The female, who never arrived on her non-existent flight, has not been heard from since.
