Online dating “becoming” more accepted? Wow, that type of headline would have been accurate about ten years ago!

Interestingly enough, there’s still a strong stigma attached to online dating. A few months ago, I was watching a news crew go about asking random single people what they thought about online dating and a lot of comments you heard 10 years ago were still there:
“It’s only for losers”
“Only desperate people do it”
“I’d never try THAT”
I was actually quite surprised at how strong the stigma still was.
And when you hear radio shows about online dating and people call in to discuss their experiences, I’m still finding the negative thoughts and comments far outweigh the positive. I believe there’s still a ways to go before that stigma is “gone”. But, yeah, compared to 10 years ago, “online dating becoming more accepted” may be overstating it a little. 🙂
