The site marketed itself as "Iran's most complete spouse-finding website" and promised to link members with "the closest person or persons to your standards" in return for a 25,000 rial (£1.66) fee, the paper said. Potential clients were asked how they felt about a partner's hijab and invited them to state their attitude towards religion. One option was "free of religion". ASIA ONE — Dec 10 — Matchmaking is booming in South Korea amid the global economic crisis, as fathers facing redundancy rush their children into marriage and jobless women find financial security in married life. Matchmaker Duo saw the number of visitors jump to 35,000 in the second week of November from 23,800 in the first week of September. SNAP Seeks Explosive Growth
EQUITIES MAGAZINE — Dec 9 — After starting out as a stand-alone
online dating website called IamFreeTonight, Snap transformed itself
into a developer of online applications for social networks including
"Are You Interested," "Meet New People," and "Flirt With Me."
The
company now boasts more than 17m installations of its application.
Revenue, which is generated primarily through advertising sales, grew
to $871,324 in the third quarter from $533,257 in the previous quarter.
One trend helping SNAP is the widening gap between online traffic to
social networks like Facebook, which grew 84% over the past year in the
US alone, according to Compete.com. Match.com and AmericanSingles.com

Friendster Expands Its Portfolio With Fourth SN Patent

WESTENDER — Dec 8 — The survey of over 700 female members of RSVP.com.au, Australia’s largest online dating site, saw 93% of respondents saying they would like to date a “tradie”. Almost half the women surveyed (49%) believe tradesmen are “more relaxed and fun than men in stuffy suits”. “Sexy and strong” was the most popular reason (28%), followed by “not afraid to get their hands dirty” (20%) as well as “handy around the house and garden” (15%).
