PARADIGM SHIFT — Mar 5 — In the next serval days POF will be
releasing a paid feature. With this optional upgrade users can signal
to the community that they are serious about meeting someone. This

Strikingly similar to the VIP feature we added to Smooch.com last month 😉

The big problem with this is right there in the press release, quote:
” There will be no addtional features and funcationality for users …
3. There will be no changes to existing users or new users. The site will continue to work as it always has, except some members can now choose to stand out more.”
POF has the poorest customer service around. All of my friends legitimate profiles were deleted without cause, and we never got an explanation or help, despite going through proper channels and bringing it to Mark’s attention in an effort to let the site know it has serious computer glitches. The forum was full of postings about the same problems until they were all taken down. There are even websites created that specifically say what all of POF’s problems are, again, ignored.
With “no additional features, no change in functionality, and no change to existing and new users” POF is saying that all their problems will still exist. What a pity. We gave up on POF long ago and moved to real sites with real customer service for just a couple of dollars a month, and it wasn’t nearly as painful as POF would like to think.

Martin, I never actually saw yours. Matchdoctor and singlesnet have done similar stuff for some 4+ years.
I’ve gone and hired 5 customer serice reps now and started to manually review deletions etc. But as you can imagine with 1 million dailly users its very resource intensive.

I guess we’re all heading in a similar direction Marcus. Good luck with the new feature.
