OPW — Aug 20 — Its time for us to commit to doing more video.
So we're thinking about doing the following kinds of videos on OPW…
1. Weekly or monthly video news roundups
2. Video CEO interviews using ooVoo
3. Video interviews with multiple people i.e. Fernando and Dr Jim 🙂
4. Quick Review videos: 3-5 minute quickie reviews of new sites/services
5. Quick Demos: quick demo's of client products and other stuff we find interesting

Hi Mark,
I think this would be a great idea, but I wonder if it would be a good thought to set the videos to *not* autoplay (ie for the movie not to start automatically as soon as the page loads)? I find it slightly off-putting when I visit the site to read another post on the page to find the Iovation video chattering away to me.
Instead, there’d be a Play button. I think it’s just a slight tweak to the Flash embed code.
Anyone else think the same?

Jon, I totally agree. I wanted to see if anyone else pointed it out and am glad someone did…
Mark – It’s so annoying to open up the site and have the video disrupt the entire office with the audio. The video should play when you click on it, or if you click a play button.

Thanks. I fixed it. I needed to remove ‘autostart=true’ from the embed.

Here are a couple of free ideas…
First, the interviews you do are excellent. Perhaps doing those on video would be interesting. It would certainly give readers a better sense into the person being interviewed.
Second, I’m not sure what % of your readers are industry vs. consumer… an idea would be to solicit questions/comments/suggestions from consumers via video and then have industry readers/leaders be able to comment and respond to the general online dating public.

We still get a fair amount of end users but we have mostly industry readers. Traffic to OPW tanks on the weekend.
