OPW – Oct 11 – I just compared eHarmony's personality profiling test with Compatible Partners personality profiling test. The tests are 99% the same, with the same questions in the same order. The only differences I found were:
– On the first page of questions Compatible Partners has three questions about having and wanting kids, whereas those questions appear on the second to last page of the eHarmony test.
– On page 3 Compatible partners has an extra question: "Do you want to select which domination(s) your matches can be?"
– On pages 17 & 18 eHarmony has seven extra personal interests listed: Backpacking, Astrology, Gadgets, Participating in Sports, Hunting, Politics, Pets, Animal Rights, Camping, Playing a Musical Instrument/Singing, Science, Watching Sports, Going Out, Protecting The Enviroment
– On page 22 eHarmony added two questions to the Compatible Partners survey:
1. Do you know someone who met their spouse through eHarmony?
2. Have you ever usen an online dating site?
The graphics and layout of the test are also a little different. From what I remember, the Compatible Partners test design looks like the older eHarmony test with respect to graphics and layout. Overall, the personality test is the same, but how about the matchmaking? eHarmony's approach has been to copy the test over for Compatible Partners so the matchmaking methodology and science would probably also be the same. – Irena Brooks

A man seeking a man looks for qualities in a partner which are much different than those a man seeking a woman looks for. Likewise, women seeking women look for much different qualities than a woman seeking a man. EHarmony launched Compatible Partners to settle a discrimination complaint from a gay man seeking a man who demanded that he be treated equally. The result is EHarmony’s personality test, which is the same as their straight dating site’s, but, in my opinion, quite worthless for gay people seeking a same-sex match. In this instance, gay people have achieved equality, which has no value to them because (surprise!) gay people are different from straight people.

eHarmony’s test is based on years of research and observations of married people (men/women). They have *zero* experience matching gays – something which they said all along, but no one was listening.
So, why is anyone surprised that their gay site is the same test?
*There is no other test*.
To use a builder’s analogy, why would you have your electrician do the framing? Or, have the furnace installer build your deck?
But, no, let’s force them to – because for an electrician to not also do the framing is discrimination. Same thing with the furnace installer.
Then, let’s express shock and dismay when each fails at the other’s task, and yell “discrimination!” some more.

I’m giving it a shot, can’t hurt. Keep in mind a lot of us live in remote locations with very few dating options, and far too many– especially cheaper services– are loaded with gay ads just looking for quick sex. This is the first seriously match-up site I’ve seen that looks primarily for those seeking only long-term commitments, and with the somewhat steep fees attached, doubt many of the quick-sex seekers would waste their time and money with the expensive and extensive process.
I’m looking for forever, and frustrated as all get-out with the number of guys just looking for a one night stand on even the more “serious” gay dating websites.
