PSYCHOLOGY TODAY – Oct 12 – AshleyMadison allows individuals in search of seemingly
uncomplicated extramarital affairs to find each other in cyberspace and
then hook up in real space. Here is the interview with Noel Biderman, the site's founder.
Q: How would you characterize marriage and monogamy in America?
A: My own personal belief is that within the coming decades,
heterosexual monogamous marriages will become the minority of American
marriages
Q: How do you account for the success of your site?
A: Ashleymadison.com
is catering to a human need; sex is as important to us as the air we
breathe, and ultimately it is not in our DNA to be
monogamous.
Q: How did you come up with the idea?
A: I came across a research back in 2001 that indicated that 30-35% of people going to
so-called single/matchmaking services were in fact attached. I thought to myself, wow, wouldn't these people prefer a
service where they could meet other like minded adults and be honest
about their relationship status.
Q: What's your ratio of male to female members?
A: 30% female and 70% male

He states his belief that heterosexual monogamous marriages will, within decades, become the minority in the United States. I disagree. Women in the United States control the relationships, the sexuality, and a good part of the business world and financial purse strings of both the home and the economy. The women won’t let monogamous marriages become a thing of the past. Not American women. No Way.

I agree that monogamous marriages will become a thing of the past in another 2-3 generations. As women become more active in sports and business, they will have less interest in staying with one partner. It will be like Hugh Hefner, you have a special person, but also have more casual sex with others.

One of the most important inventions man has ever made is the telephone. It has certainly made a huge impact on communication, bridging the distance between people hundreds, if not, thousands, of miles apart. Partners, be it a spouse, a girlfriend, or a boyfriend, also make use of the telephone to cheat on their significant other. They send out SMS messages and call their secret lovers, thinking that such actions can never be found out.
