uncomplicated extramarital affairs to find each other in cyberspace and
then hook up in real space. Here is the interview with Noel Biderman, the site's founder.

Q: How would you characterize marriage and monogamy in America?
A: My own personal belief is that within the coming decades,
heterosexual monogamous marriages will become the minority of American
marriages

Q: How do you account for the success of your site?
A: Ashleymadison.com
is catering to a human need; sex is as important to us as the air we
breathe, and ultimately it is not in our DNA to be
monogamous.

Q: How did you come up with the idea?
A: I came across a research back in 2001 that indicated that 30-35% of people going to
so-called single/matchmaking services were in fact attached. I thought to myself, wow, wouldn't these people prefer a
service where they could meet other like minded adults and be honest
about their relationship status.
 
Q: What's your ratio of male to female members?
A: 30% female and 70% male

eHarmonys Test vs Compatible Partners Test

Eharmony compatiblepartners loga OPW – Oct 11 – I just compared eHarmony's personality profiling test with Compatible Partners personality profiling test. The tests are 99% the same, with the same questions in the same order. The only differences I found were:

– On the first page of questions Compatible Partners has three questions about having and wanting kids, whereas those questions appear on the second to last page of the eHarmony test.

– On page 3 Compatible partners has an extra question: "Do you want to select which domination(s) your matches can be?"

– On pages 17 & 18 eHarmony has seven extra personal interests listed: Backpacking, Astrology, Gadgets, Participating in Sports, Hunting, Politics, Pets, Animal Rights, Camping, Playing a Musical Instrument/Singing, Science, Watching Sports, Going Out, Protecting The Enviroment

– On page 22 eHarmony added two questions to the Compatible Partners survey:
   1. Do you know someone who met their spouse through eHarmony?
   2. Have you ever usen an online dating site?

The graphics and layout of the test are also a little different.  From what I remember, the Compatible Partners test design looks like the older eHarmony test with respect to graphics and layout.  Overall, the personality test is the same, but how about the matchmaking?  eHarmony's approach has been to copy the test over for Compatible Partners so the matchmaking methodology and science would probably also be the same. – Irena Brooks

Yesnomaybcom logo ETHIO PLANET – Oct 8 – When the Netflix Prize was awarded last month, it ended three years of intense competition aimed at finding a better algorithm for predicting users’ movie preferences. The winning team, BellKor’s Pragmatic Chaos, was the first to forecast Netflix customers’ movie ratings with 10% better accuracy than the company’s in-house system. Gavin Potter, who gained recognition for his breaking the top 10 of the Netflix prize in 2008, is working on applying his own research for the prize to the dating site YesNoMayB, which employs two-way recommendation algorithms to find users who may want to meet one another. In particular, he hopes to use insights from the Netflix Prize to make predictions based on users’ implicit preferences, such as what pages they load.

Finding the perfect money match online picture MARKETPLACE – Oct 2 – In a poll by ING Direct almost a third of Americans said the economy has added stress and even ruined their marriages or romantic relationships. On the other hand, eHarmony and Perfect Match are reporting double digit growth but for all the love connections there is not much talk of money compatibility. eHarmony asks more than 250 questions in  its personality profiling test but only one is about money. PerfectMatch.com says you do need to ask and even offers a test called Money & Economic Aspirations.
