A big congratulations to Sam!!
I’ve not met his brother Philip but on the few occasions I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Sam, he’s always struck me as one of the most genuine, nice guys working in the online dating industry.
Most of all, to be able to combine personal belief, passion and profit is always a great achievement.
Congrats guys!!

Thanks for the kind words, Ross! My brother Philip is a silent partner, and has been for many years now. He has a separate business in mgmt consulting (http://www.mgps.com). He was dating a young lady back when we started (they’ve been married for over 10 years now), so wasn’t into the dating scene at all. He did see the business angle, though, and was intrumental in working with me in the early years to get things going.
My staff (average tenure is around 8 years – I have terrific, smart, loyal, devoted people who are in it for the long-term) do the actual day-to-day work, so the credit should go to them. I do big picture stuff, as well as help out where needed.
And, I travel a ton (presently in Brazil for a month with my family; spent a month in Florida before that travelling in our RV; was in the UK & Europe last summer; travelled around Ontario, New York, and Quebec in our RV before that; spent 4.5 months in 2008 travelling around Canada and the US in our RV – you get the picture).
Mind you, I am always working – such is the benefit/curse of having an online business, where you can work from anywhere (can’t complain where I am now, though – mid-80’s F with a nice breeze wafting in as I type…)! You can’t rest your laurels in such a challenging, ever-changing & evolving, competitive industry, can you?!
