OPW – Apr 20 - In 2009 and 2010, Match.com engaged research firm Chadwick Martin Bailey to conduct three studies to provide insights into America’s dating behavior: a survey of recently married people (“Marriage Survey”), a survey of people who have used online dating (“Online Dating Survey”), and a survey of single people and people in new committed relationships (“General Survey”).Key Findings:
– 17% of couples married in the last 3 years met on a dating site.
– In the last year, more than twice as many marriages occurred between people who met on a dating site than met in bars, at clubs and other social events combined.
– Twice as many recently married couples met on Match.com than the site that ranked second.
– Twice as many recently married couples met on Match.com than the site that ranked second.

If you carefully analyze the data, that study only proves that “Via Online Dating Site” is not the primary source to find a long term mate.
Moreover, sites like Match/Chemisty, eHarmony, True, PerfectMatch, Be2, MeeticAffinity, Parship, PlentyOfFishChemistryPredictor, eDarling and others have low effectiveness / efficiency of their proprietary predictive matching methods for LONG TERM mating
Method of meeting spouse (Via Online Dating Site)
2004 12%
2005 13%
2006 15%
2007 17%
2008 19% (highest value)
2009/2010 17%
Past 3 Years 17%
“Approximately twice as many recently married couples met on Match than the site that ranked second (eHarmony)”
They should check marital stability and marital satisfaction, not only marriage itself!
Are divorce rates higher in Match than in eHarmony?

Of course online dating doesn’t work very well. One of the main reasons is that it’s a highly visual medium, and few people are in high demand visually. Interesting, the adult sites might work better (for average-looking people), because users perhaps aren’t as aesthetically picky and also are more free to present themselves in crudely sexual ways.
