MASHABLE – Feb 2 – Match.com had acquired OkCupid for $50M in cash. "Our goal is that the acquisition will have no effect whatsoever,” CEO Sam Yagan said, saying that no positions will change within the company, and that it will continue full-steam ahead as usual — sans censorship or fees. It seems like the missions of OKCupid and Match are directly opposing. OkCupid seems to be about maximizing value at no cost, but Match is about maximizing Revenue while charging an acceptable amount. The only difference seems to be how to satisfy casual and marriage-minded daters.
