MEN'SHEALTH – Nov 23 - braindesire.com tests users' brain using word recognition while subliminally exposing them to a person’s name and measures how much their brain is stimulated by the person. They can either test one person or compare two people to see whom their brain likes more. The website is based off a 2007 study conducted by researchers at Dartmouth College and Geneva University Hospital. The study found that women who were deemed to be in love and not in a companionate relationship were faster at word recognition when subliminally shown their loved one’s name.

MASHABLE – Nov 22 – A study by Skout noted that 69% of people were comfortable meeting up with someone they met on their iPhone, and 40% were using a mobile dating service while out at bars, clubs and restaurants.
1. Brightkite – It isn’t a “dating” app per se, but rather, introduces local users on a basic level.
2. MeetMoi - The company’s goal is to “strip down dating to what’s essential — the introduction.”
3. OkCupid - OKCupid introduced its geo-location app to help users keep watch for local singles in July.
4. Sonar.me - By connecting to Facebook and Twitter, the app lets you see, in real time, how to connect with those physically around you.
5. Skout - With ~1M users, the service hosts one of the largest and most popular location-based dating apps on the iPhone and Android markets.

DAILY MAIL – Nov 22 - The number of Catholics actively looking for affairs was almost twice that of other religions, a survey has found. A research showed 21.5% of the 600,000 members on an extra-marital dating site were Catholic – a high figure since they make up only 10% of the UK population. Spokesperson for Illicit Encounters Rosie Freeman-Jones says: ‘Religious people have a much stronger sense of right and wrong, which also means they're likely to get a bigger thrill from breaking the rules.

THE NATIONAL – Nov 19 – ~60% of residents in the UAE would not trust the internet dating to find a possible partner, a survey has found. Technology moves very fast, however tradition changes very slowly in UAE. 71% said they would trust the internet to pay bills, and 61% would use it to voice their opinion about social news. Asians showed greater acceptance of online dating. Four in five (82%) Asian respondents thought it was socially acceptable to find a partner online.
