NEWBURY PORT NEWS – Dec 2 – Close to 29% of adults ages 50 to 65 are now single. Dating can be challenging at any age. But for boomers, this is even more true when you consider that social skills may be a bit rusty. While some boomers may be skeptical or embarrassed to try online dating, people over age 50 make up Match.com's fastest-growing segment of users, with a 300% increase since 2000. When it comes to relationships, 84% of boomers rank physical intimacy as being "important" or "very important."

Boomers present an interesting opportunity for dating sites. On one hand, it may be Match.com’s fastest growing population, but it also may be a group that needs more customer service and support – particularly if “some boomers may be skeptical or embarrassed to try online dating,” and “84% of boomers rank physical intimacy as being ‘important’ or ‘very important.’” Not to mention the stereotype that boomers may be less tech savvy than other groups and potentially more prone to scams.
If these assumptions are true, there may be opportunities to enhance the overall customer service experience for users and to place even more emphasis on battling scammers and spammers. How about some sort of a concierge service for premium members?
