MASHABLE – Mar 21 – The state attorney general’s office will work with Match.com, eHarmony.com and Spark Networks to screen for sexual predators, identity thieves and scammers. A joint statement issued Monday notes the prevalence of online dating and says the companies’ main objective is to keep users safe. A Match.com spokesperson told Mashable the site is already taking the precautions outlined in the agreement, and an eHarmony spokesperson said existing screening mechanisms have helped keep sex offenders off the service in the past.

Really? I have strong suspicions that this is simple window dressing. In my case I believe the algorithm was hijacked by a sophisticated hacker in an attempt to make me appear undesirable…you are proving popular today messages stopped suddenly and quality of matches declined dramatically.
There are numerous profiles of men with children and animals in photos, no faces showing, etc…messages asking you to come off the site and correspond by personal e-mail.
I also believe the site is designed to make cancellation of subscription as difficult as possible. The only way to prove that a “user” has cancelled their account would be to ask the website to restore the system as of the date in question. Customer service could not even confirm that they could view the same page as me. A page setting out how to cancel your subscription indicated ” instructions below”. There were no instructions. A lovely loop …you cannot check the status of your account without re-activating it …”gotcha!!!”.
We should redefine or should I say “re-identify” the real “users”…or we could just blame the victim…the rogue’s aback method of choice. No crime committed of course. I should like to add that the advice from the security services is “avoid dating sites like the plague” …the home of frauds terms, paedophiles and other undesirables. Looking for an honest person is like looking for a needle in haystack.
Oh, and the database is full of holes…I have evidence that I have a shadow profile somewhere suggesting that I like “back door action”. Advice on how to get your girlfriend to like this also easily found on Internet
