OPW – Apr 14 – We do a lot of reading every day. One of our valuable news sources are internet dating blogs. A lot of dating sites have them, written by their staff or owners. Some are good, some are so so. We recently listed most of them on our Company Index for your reference. Here's our top picks… Some are really worth reading.
OkTrends (by OkCupid) was a real star. We used to read it, often used the posts for OPW – and we weren´t the only ones. Data from their studies made it to the major outlets, were featured on Seattle Times, Time, NY Times and many more. They certainly did something right. Unfortunately the last post on this blog was published about a year ago, shortly after OkCupid was acquired by Match.com. But the blog is still live and you can read it´s older posts and a little birdie told us, that they´re collecting some unpublished posts and plan on making a book of them. As soon as we find out more, we'll let you know.
Another favorite is the Plenty of Fish blog, written by the occasionally controversial founder and CEO of POF, Markus Frind. This blog is different from the others. Its more internet dating industry focused. Not really for actual internet daters.
Up To Date is the name of Match.com´s official blog. It´s quite focused on the members of Match – it has a lot of "success stories" posts, but it also provides data based on studies conducted by Match.com, along with occasional guest posts. You can usually find something interesting there. Match.com US also runs a magazine called "Happen".
Badoo´s and Zoosk´s blogs are similarly focused. Zoosk uses videos a lot – we think, that´s a good move. Our blog posts always get more readers when we use a video in them.
Another big player, eHarmony, runs the eHarmony Advice blog. It´s tagline says: "eHarmony experts´ take on dating, relationships and the science of love" – and it pretty much explains what the blog is about.
These are the big ones – but not the only interesting dating blogs. Do you know why people are leaving dating sites? You'll know more after reading this post on the DateHookup blog.
Does your dating site have an interesting blog? Is it missing from our Company Index? Send us a link, we will fix it.
