Dating sites are a victim of their own success. Make a match, and they lose their client. Its a funny business in that respect. More continuity is required.
Most relationships have a live cycle so its important for dating sites to remain connected with their users, especially after they’ve become happy clients and found their matches…and departed.
Zoosk has chosen to groom testimonials by giving users more comprehensive and appropriate means to create and store their couples sanctuary of photos and memories. Good move by Zoosk. But I’d avoid the word repository.
There’s a lot more dating sites can do. I joke with my wife. Getting the girl, and keeping the girl are two different things. I know I can’t get lazy. She may become less attracted to me. And that would suck for both of us really. People need help and advice to ‘keep it together.’ Dating sites are positioned well to provide help and advice and survey couples to help them keep it together and get more out of their relationships.
But dating sites have missed the boat on this opportunity.

I hear this argument all the time, was recently talking to Badoo about it, as they are larger than all dating sites combined and appeal to both social people and singles, with little distinction on the site.
Dating sites generally stink at giving advice. Its all the sexy boring advice that drives pageviews. I’ve never met anyone who said they changed how they deal with their spouse because they read Happen Magazine, or some random dating blog for that matter. Change happens when she leaves you, or you end up in jail, or on the couch with a therapist, at least for the most part.
Look, the deal is that Zoosk is trying to do anything to make more money, just like POF. Tests, matching systems, VIP-upsells, rebranding, *anything* to get more traffic and earn more revenue off of existing members. I bet Zoosk will launch a daily deals site any day now, because there is a lot more money there than in keeping people around on your site.
Do dating sites really think that people want to stick around after the fact? Of course not. This is where Facebook wins hands down. They keep the member for life.
