EAST TENNESSEAN – Nov 12 – According to Grindr, since the inception of the app in early 2009, ~1-2K new users have signed up every day. 30% of the app’s users check the app daily, and 44% check their accounts on a weekly basis. The app has caught some flack because some users use it to find short-term relationships or to meet for casual sex. “As a dating tool, its hit or miss,” said one of Grindr's users. “Rarely will you find someone who is looking for Mr. Right rather than Mr. Right Now.” The app announced that it reached 3M users in 192 countries in November 2011. This made Grindr the largest all-male, location-based social network in the world.

First of its kind, clean interface, large audience. Perfect for browse->chat->hookup within a few hours. Definitely doesn’t seem like a dating tool. Good density coverage in many areas, not just for large cities.
