NY DAILY NEWS – Mar 13 - HowAboutWe caters to couples who are too busy or too lazy to plan their own dates. HowAboutWe for Couples is a spinoff of the company’s popular HowAboutWe dating site for singles, where date-seekers pitch a date idea and see if anyone bites. For $18 a month, couples can choose from a selection of pre-planned dates. Since it launched in November, ~2K couples have signed up for the service, which is only available in New York. It is launching soon in San Francisco.

The real point here is to capture the people who leave HowAboutWe, and stay in front of them and build good-will so they return, or at least continue to remember the site and tell their single friends. Dating sites are victims of their own success when they do their matching job well. Continuity is a problem. Couples services should help HowAboutWe gain continuity. Even small gains in mid to long term ARPU and word-of-mouth can really help site marketing metrics for scaling.
