It turns out they may be in a legal gray area. Ashley Madison discloses in its terms of agreement that some of its profiles may be "fictitious." " Ashley’s Angels provide entertainment, attempt to simulate communications with members to encourage more conversation and interaction with users." However, Ashley Madison may get into trouble if somebody can prove its marketing pitches let on that users are getting more than a fantasy.

Mark Brooks: I call this branch of iDating, High Emotion Entertainment. Mate1 had their ambassadors. TRUE sent winks on behalf of members to compatible matches. Sites grapple with the nuances of the integrity of this practice. It's not good practice, but it makes a ton of money. Incentives drive behavior. But standards really need to be established, and the companies that don't resort to this practice need to be highlighted and clear to users.

Snap Interactive Q3 Results: Revenue $3M, Down 31%

Snapinteractive logoPR NEWSWIRE – Nov 15 - Snap's Total Q3 revenues decreased 31% to $3.M compared to $4.3M in Q3 2012. Net loss was $1.7M, compared with net income of $300K in Q3 2012. Since Q4 2012, conversion rates have increased ~40%. Active subscribers increased 2.5%. Mobile logins as a percentage of total logins to AYI.com have increased from ~15% during Q1 '13 to 28% during Sep '13.

Spark Networks Q3 Financial Results

Sparknetworks logo new Jan 13MARKETWIRE – Nov 14 – The Q3 revenue was $17.4M, up 9% compared to Q3 2012. The Christian Networks segment was the primary driver of that growth. Total cost and expenses were ~$20M, net loss was $2.6M up from $1.7M in Q3 2012. Average paying subscribers for all the segments were 300,225, an increase of 13% compared to 266,075 in the Q3 2012.

Free Dating Sites Prove A Hit With UK Consumers Surfing For Love

The majority of consumer queries (15%) were for free dating sites. Other popular searches included ‘first dates’, ‘mature dating’ and ‘polish dating’. eharmony.co.uk was the most prominent site in the organic listings overall. ashleymadison.com was the most visible advertiser, achieving a 51% share of voice in the paid listings.

ITV Tonight: Looking For Love – A Review

Itv tonightCHRISTIAN CONNECTION – Nov 11 – No programme has yet done a really good job other than investigative programmes like Panorama – but this only focussed on negative examples with no attempt at balance or fairness to the industry as a whole. Looking for Love on ITV turned out to be another missed opportunity. They seem to prefer insights from academics to those actually working day to day in the business. ITV spent a whole day filming at the offices of Muddy Matches. But in the end that was cut out completely.
