STD App Hula Partners With Dating Apps

Posted on November 27, 2013

Mister app screenshotSCIENTIFIC AMERICAN – Nov 21 - Hula app stores sexually transmitted disease test results in one place and, if users like, can discretely notify sex partners of their health status. The app makes people more aware of the need to be tested for STDs and to share the outcome with sexual partners. Hula is also hoping that it can help to reduce the risk of sex with people who met through the location-based dating apps. Hula has partnered with a gay dating app Mister. Mister is encouraging users to find local testing centers, and making their test results available to online “friends" via Hula.

Relationship Redefined By Technology

Posted on November 25, 2013

Online dating 12MERCURY NEWS – Nov 23 – ~25% of online daters met a spouse or long-term partner through a dating site. Another study finds couples who meet online are twice as likely to get married than couples who met offline. All this connectivity can come with a cost. Match.com Faces $1.5 Billion Lawsuit

Posted on November 25, 2013

Lawsuit newNY DAILY NEWS – Nov 23 – Yuliana Avalos, is a part-time model who never joined Match.com, but says her pictures have been used in ~200 fake profiles. The phony profiles are often created by scammers in other countries. The suit says that Match.com looks the other way, because it can tell the bogus profiles are being posted with IP addresses in foreign countries. But the company also creates its own bogus profiles, the federal suit says. Match.com has been sued over bogus profiles before, but the suits were tossed because the terms of users agreement doesn’t require it to “police” profiles.
