Wearable.ai Launch

Posted on February 16, 2014

Wearableai bannerOPW – Feb 16 – Mobile is hot. Wearable's are next, and will be smoking hot for iDating!  In 7 years time you will barely recognize this industry. We're launching a new blog that you should consider subscribing to so you can stay on top of the wearables wave. See Wearable.ai. You can subscribe for free daily email updates.

We chose the name Wearable.ai because eventually Artificial Intelligence will enhance wearable technology, and then things get REALLY interesting for the idating industry.

Wearable technology is relevant to your world, as heads of iDating companies, because you're underperforming for two reasons.

  1. Users lie, and
  2. They don't really know what they want.

These two factors make our jobs very tough.

Wearables will allow us to observe preferences and behaviors and get a more accurate picture of who our users are, and what they really want.

…oh yeah, it will also allow us to authenticate people. Just a small bonus.  ;-)

Watch this space, and sign up for Wearable.ai.

VCs’ Are Positive About Online Dating Turning Into Attractive Investment

Posted on February 15, 2014

FundingUNQUOTE – Feb 14 – Europe's online dating market has not enjoyed a satisfying relationship with venture capital. Venture firms initially poured capital into basic dating sites before moving towards more social media-based offerings, such as 360 Capital Partners' €2M investment in Smartdate, a Facebook-integrated dating platform, in 2010. Now the sector has expanded into dating apps. "The winner will be freemium and mobile", says Pavel Bogdanov, a partner at Almaz Capital, a backer of Estonia-based social dating site Flirtic. Europe's venture firms may already be testing the waters. Paua Ventures, Astutia Ventures and IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft has invested in German social discovery and dating app mbrace. "In five years, dating could be changed again by the popularity of wearables", says Bogdanov.

STD Dating Sites Are Growing Space

Posted on February 15, 2014

Positivesingles logoTELEGRAPH.CO.UK – Feb 14 – ~500K new cases of STIs were diagnosed in 2012 in the UK; ~90K were living with HIV and one in two people under 25 tested positive for Chlamydia. Studies show that one in four students catch a sexual infection during their first year of university. Positive Singles has 30K registered UK members, while Herpes Dating says it has 795K members. A lack of support available led Max to set up H-YPE! in 2006. Sites like H-YPE! enable people with herpes or HPV to find answers to their questions in a safe and secure environment. For some, they’ve even given the hope for a future of marriage and children that they thought lost when first diagnosed.
